Pegasys and tenofovir

I have been on Pegasys for 13 weeks. Took my quantification but did not see much difference. There has been only 4.8% reduction but my viral load shows improvement.
Hepatitis B Viral (HBV DNA, Quantitative Real Time PCR) from 4,76,172 IU/mL to 12172 IU/mL
Hepatitis B Surface Antigen: 5966.72 IU/mL to 4328.60 IU/mL
So my doc suggested to put me on combo therapy. He suggested that I take tenofovir along with pegasys for another 12 weeks.
I am not sure if this is going to be of any help. What would be the repercussions if I stop all medications? Or will taking  only oral medication help?

I don't think it will hurt you if you take TDF. There is a clinical trial going on right now for TDF+IFN vs mono therapy (I signed up and I think stef2011 is also on that trial ?). Both things work completely differently. TDF has mild side effects.
The goal is to speed up the drop in HBV DNA with TDF and let IFN do the rest.

Thanks stef. Do you think the combo drug therapy will be helpful? Also, will tenofovir have any side affects?
And with Pegasys I have been experiencing fever every now and then.
I have been on a complete veg and fruits diet with chicken soup once a week for the past fifteen weeks. Its weakening but my tummy feels light with this diet.
