Hi Arti, I just found out that I have Hep B, but not sure if it is acute of chronic until further testing. I found out because I started to feel flushed a lot lately and decided to go to doc to check it out. If chronic, can it lead to cancer even if it is treated? I know that it cannot be cured, but can it still lead to cancer?
I have been reading a lot on it, but still kind of in the dark..
What is your opinion on future drug such as; Myrcludex and Rep9Ac? Is it really promising?
Hello,
Hepatitis B infection can be mild or severe. It is spread through blood, semen, or another body fluid from a person infected with the Hepatitis B virus by sexual contact with an infected person or sharing needles, syringes, or other drug-injection equipment. Hepatitis B can also be passed from an infected mother to her baby at birth. Approximately 90% to 95% of adults infected with hepatitis B fight off their infection and are cured. While only about 5% to 10% of adults infected with HBV develop chronic infection. Children are at much higher risk for chronic infection. Almost two-thirds of people with chronic HBV infection can become chronic carriers. They keep harboring the virus and can transmit it to others. The surface antigen is part of the hepatitis B virus which is usually found in the blood of somebody who is infected with the virus. A positive test means a person is suffering from hepatitis B .Antiviral drugs are used in hepatitis B.They are not a cure but reduce the damage caused by the virus and decrease the ability of the virus to reproduce. Best luck and regards!
