Quit Baraclude or Not?

Hi All --
New to the forum and would like to thank you all for helping people like me. I am 58 years old with chronic hepatitis B, I have been on baraclude 0.5 since 2/8/2011. Here are my tests :

     9/16/2010      2/8/2011 8/9/2011   2/16/2012 8/29/2013 8/5/2014
HBeAg Neg      Neg Neg Neg         Neg          Neg
HBeAb Pos      Pos Pos Pos         Pos          Pos
HBsAb (all are Non-Reactive NA)
HBsAb    <0.10       <0.10         <0.10 0.60        <0.10 <3.1 m NA
HBsAg Pos        Pos Pos Pos Pos           Pos
DNA IU/mL 9229 11105 <29 HI <20 HI         <20 HI <20 NA
DNA LogIU/mL 53713 64631 <169 HI <116 HI <116 HI <1.3 NA

Due to my insurance with the high cost for Baraclude, my doctor suggested to quit baraclude and be monitored every 6 months. If virus comes back, then switch to Viread. He said he is hoping the virus will not come back.

I am worried about the possibility of virus comes back and have to take Viread while Baraclude seems to work just fine for me now. I am willing to pay if staying with Baraclude is the right choice.

Please give me some advise...
Thanks,
Yivon

antivirals like entecavir and tenofovir always work but tenofovir is more potent and cheaper, there is no reason for you to keep entecavir if you cannot afford it, you are spending more money for a worst result

Thank you so much for the reply.

Since "stopping antivirals will make your cure difficult or requiring more decades ",  I would like to stay with Baraclude since it still works for me.

Somewhere on this forum I read ' Tenofovir may not be able to fully suppress entecavir resistance...', I am worry if I will be the case. My instinct tells me the virus will come back if I stop Baraclude. From my numbers, do you think so too?

Thanks again!

go for tenofovir which is cheaper and more potent, stopping antivirals is a very bad choice, they are meant to stay until hbsag goes down to 1000-1500iu/ml

check all the posts about sequential tdf and peg add on and hbv cure and the new cures coming soon.stopping antivirals will make your cure difficult or requiring more decades
