Sonogram every 6 months ?

I know the gereral guidelines on the US for HCC screening.  My GI wants me to do it every 6 months now because I am heading to "mid-30".  Labs are fine.  Still UND with about 30 ALT.

I might just stick to annual....uhhhhh....maybe I just do it like 9 months.  I guess it just bothers me when my GI and I are on slightly different pages, yes, even on little things.

What your MD say about your US?

Thanks for the great feedbacks.

I knew this 6 months recommendation was coming.  I've been on an annual check so I guess mentally I equate a shorter monitoring period to higher risk and it's still hard to accept.

I'll adjust to the 6 months.

My US every 6 months has been changed to MRI every 3 months due to the detection of a 1cm hemangioma by MRI on 10/20/08.  MRI has a higher resolution than US and my hepatologist wants to make sure the hemangioma is not changing in size.

i was hbeag neg with dna v/l of 3470 and normal ALT when i found out i had HBV and doc decided US is done every 6 months, ofcourse as some know i also opted to treat with meds.
persoanlly, i am honeslty kinda panicky and always thinking i am worse than i really am so in away i kinda like doing the US every 6 months. i dont think I'd mind doing it every 3 months just to be safe and know there isnt anything wrong with me
