HBV Exposure, PCR Test

I think I was exposed to a risky situation where I may have contracted Hep c,,,,I cannot wait for 3 months to get tested...its been 16 days now and many doctors have told me that Hep C and B can be detected early using PCR...I asked how soon they were so confident that results were conclusive after 72 hours of exposure.

I recieve results for PCR in 2 days, if they turn out negative for Hep C and B , can I consider them conclusive and no more testing needs to be done?

After reading many of the forum posts...Many tend to not find PCR Results conclusive...so plz tell me what do you think....

My Risky situation was I was cut by a hair clipper at a barbers shop

Thank you for your time

there is a vaccine that s what you need, no testing needed

hbv needs to reach bone marrow and liver before it can start an infection so even if you got it the infection may never start or may take up to 5-6 months to start, so you can see that testing is useless
if you take vaccine+immune globulin you wont have any hbv

no because hbv life cycle has nothing to do with hbvdna and we cronic carriers  have hbvdna undetactable for years, some all life

Stef some days ago I went to talk to my doctor and  I asked him about hbsag quantity ( becouse u told to me) and he did not know about it:  He said that it was the same as HBV DNA !!! I told him that was different test and he started doubting as if there were something he missed.

IS this suposse to be a very old virus affecting the human beings since long? well, then how is it possible that doctors don't know the basic staff??? I am really surpriseed !!  well stef i will take those things into account, nice have u here.  Kind regards.

remember hbsag low levels are the only thing which can predict clearance, hbvdna is totally useless for this.many ignorant doctors still not knowing this

It's still positive? last time in 10/2/2012 it was.

you are still acute then and slowly clearing hbsag, hbsag will confirm 99% if so.a small percentage of acute hbv goes into low hbvdna and hbeag negative with very slow hbsag clearance which takes 12months or longer

you just have to worry about your immune system satus, the rest is like one who actually cleared acute hbv.check your vitd25oh level, this must be 60-80ng/ml both for hbv and for the resyt of your life.a optimum level of vit d will prevent so many diseases
d3 supplements 5000-10000iu daily needed until you reach that result and the you keep 5000iu daily to keep balance

antioxidants like nac, glutathione, vit c all needed, you can get them from livon labs.all useless if not IV or liposomal because there is no stomach absorption to reach working levels

Well Stef I dont have all the answers becouse my doctor is not made me all tests u talked about.

what is your hbsag level?

I don't know my hbsag level. THey did not made me that test.  Just the DNA level tests that was 3600 unites/ml when they first faund it irst october 2011.

hbcab was positive when you first found to be hbsag positive? Yes in october 2011.  15 days after I started feeling very very bad for 3 months but cliniquement ashymptomatic.

It's still positive? last time in 10/2/2012 it was.  Right now I dont know.

did you have an immune tollerant phase or just had normal acute hbv with hbeag negative/hbeab positive by months from acute infection? I think i did not have an inmune tollerant phase too long.  Let's say one month. I think infection was in september.

The only thing I have to study is the adn which has allways decreased never got to the inial level of 3600 unities/ml.

I have to say as well that even in acute infection I could not stoped working. It was needed. I do physical work.  Right now I stoped becouse scared of chronic hbv and feel better but still fatigated.

Anyway , thank u very much for your help.

you are in the extremely little and just supposed 5% of adults with non competent immune system which is not able to clear the virus

what is your hbsag level?in acute hbv hbsag is not cleared by 6months like reported in the past but also by 12months or little longer, this can be seen by checking hbsag level to see if you have an immune response or not and when you will clear it

a declining hbsag less than 1500iu/ml with genotype D will confirm if and when you are going to clear it or if it will stay cronic but with no damge, genotype is also very important to understand hbsag kinetic and immune response

another thing very important is, hbcab was positive when you first found to be hbsag positive?is it still positive?did you have an immune tollerant phase or just had normal acute hbv with hbeag negative/hbeab positive by months from acute infection?

while a stable or increasing hbsag will conifrm you wont clear it

Hi stef,

I don't agree with u Stef how can u explain then that since octobre 2011 I have had un acute infection and I have not cleared the virus yet???I am 39 male. It is ashymptomatic infection but I have not cleared hbs ag !!!  I don't even smoke and almost never get sick ( last time I remember in 2007) !!! right now i am cronic.

hbv:
just take vaccine, no need to test for exposure.PCR is not reliable, take vaccine and then retest hbsab after all vaccine shots
adults clear hbv almost 100%, it is only cronic at birth or in drug addicts which of course have no immune system

hcv:
you get it only by contaminated blood, the new antivirals clear it 100%

so no need to worry for both viruses they are both harmeless today, just have vaccine for hbv and retest for hcv in 6-8months

hi, i think u shoul do tests again in 6 weeks, that might be definitive........................ 16 days might not be enough ........................in the middle time there is not much to do.  if it is about vhc watch out becouse the sooner is the better for tretement.  if is is vhb, u have to wait and see evolution
