Comment: Replicative viral hepatitis B infection
NOTE: About one year ago when I conducted Hepatitis B profile, I had NON RELICATIVE INFECTION but about one year on lamivudine I am now REPLICATIVE. Please what does this suggest? I am planning to stop taking lamivudine because it gives me so much side effect ranging from stomach discomforts and back pains and general weakness.  The doctor I met this time related all these complaints to lamivudine. He said I could have conducted viral load ( which here in Nigeria cost around 130 USD) before starting taking lamivudine. He said after I do the virus load now he may consider putting me on interferon alpha but I preferred tenofovir or entacavir( which are not yet available here in Nigeria). Please advise accordingly.

I agree, processed foods are the number one killer plus fertilizers and pesticides I think.

I remember reading an article, that says, once you started medication for hbv, you should not stop until the doctor say so. how true is this? Is KDboy should stop anytime and any day whenever it feels right? and also, it says that hbv medication does not guarantee cure. we are really f@cked up!

Yes, Tenofovir is too expensive. Best if you can source it from India. Talk to your doctor about using Truvada, a HIV medication, as an alternative. Ultimately your government should step in to look after the neds of its citizens.

Thank you. Do you suggest that I should do another HbeAg and HbeAb  and the LFT in another laboratory to confirm? I will do the viral load. At the moment I stopped taking any drug. I want to do the viral load before I start taking one of the drugs recommended by the WHO. But my challenge is how to buy them we dont have them available here in Nigeria

Your results are rather unusual - you are HbeAg positive, yet your ALT is low. Previously you have posted that your ALT was elevated and that your liver was enlarged. I do agree with your doctor that you should do a viral load test even though it is expensive. You may also like to repeat your HBeAg and HBeAB tests. Recently, the WHO recommends Tenofovir/Entecavir for HBV treatment. So best not to use Lamivudine as it has very high drug resistance rate. Usually Lamivudine has very few side effects, so it is unlikely to cause all the problems you are experiencing.
