First biopsy compete

Just finished my first biopsy today.  They did two passes. It was so painful, felt pain in my heart. Thought I was having some heart problems from the pain.  Everyone always says it doesn't hurt. I guess I am the exception. I am so tired.  Everyone is out of town so I will get some good sleep.

Thank you Stef, that was the reassurance I was looking for.  I have one more request for your opinion.  Last time I checked my viral count was at 12000 IU/mL, my Specialist will probably suggest that I do not treat because of no fibrosis.  In your opinion do you think the benefit of treating to prevent HCC are great enough to do so with no fibrosis?

I used to be against treatment, and now I am ready to do so I think the doctor will suggest against it.

vit d is an immune modulator it will help immune system stay in balance and prevent fibrosis and hcc, it is a must to take it

So I got my biopsy results back today,  There were two samples taken both of which indicated no fibrosis.  Not sure what to make of this.

Have been taking 10,000iu of vit D3,  does anyone know if it will be harmful to take if not on treatment?  I am worried it will maybe make my immune system stronger and cause damage?  I was taking it to prepare for treatment which brings me to another question?

I am probably genotype C or D,  should I treat as a cancer preventative?

Enough knowledge instead "eno"

If you can take these tests. Docs frequently don't prescribe those because they want to save governments money or because they don't have eno, not because they are not useful.

So I have not received biopsy results yet, but am expecting them shortly.  My doctor told me that there is no need for genotype or surface antigen testing at this point.  I disagree about the genotype testing anyway as I am from Asia and most likely have genotype c or d which from my understanding puts me at higher risk for hoc if I do not treat.  Which was going to be my main argument if the doc didn't agree with treatment.   Any thoughts. Are these tests important and if so can you point me to some good argument points for the doc?

I feel a lot better today, no more pain.  I guess not as bad as some people had so I'm grateful for this.  We will see if pain comes back at all.  Twinboys I did stay home from school that day as I had no energy and pain was way to bad to concentrate.  I layed in bed most of the night and watched some comedy to take my mind off of it.  I went to work the next day.  Been drinking organic veggie juice and taking antioxidant (NAC 1600 mg, and ALA 600 mg daily), and just upped my does of vit D from 4000 to 10000 iu daily.  Hopefully there is good news on the biopsy, but Im starting to realize that even if it is not great news that everything will work out.  I will post my results here when I receive them.  Thank you for all your kind words. :)

You defiantly should have not been told you could go to school after and hope you didn't.  That is crazy.  I'm not a doctor but distinctly remember last year being held for observation after the biopsy for several hours to watch for issues.  I remember being told the liver is very vascular and the biopsy could cause a small chance of a bleed.  Also, I had to have a driver to and from the procedure and know I was told no driving that day (don't remember if I was told no driving after that day though).  I remember laying low that day and not walking around or doing much after I came home.  It is an invasive procedure and hope you are relaxing today.

I believe they did underplay the significance of the procedure but glad you are okay and feeling better.  Hope for good results now!

Thank-you for all your responses everyone. Makes me very happy. I feel better now but was a little grouchy earlier at the doc for telling me there is no pain and that I could go to school after.  I did not mean to imply that the community lied. I live you guys, always give me positive hope.  I think I would be so lost without this community.  I don't know why they did two passes, they did freeze the outer layer. I don't remember anything about complication but remember my heart felt a sharp pain as well as the envaided area. I will not do this again just did it to determine treatment faster.  Thank-you everyone for your caring responses.

For me it wasnt at all harmful I think they did not anesthesia for you and for me the only thing that I felt harmful for a ll2second is the injection of anesthesia.after I felt some pain in my right shoulder than every thing is gone

Also, it could be because you had 2 passes.  Why 2?  With both of mine there was only one pass through and super fast and easy.  The prep and recovery were way longer than the actual biopsy.

I'm sorry it was so painful for you.  I have had 2 of them and both were not how your experience went.  My last one was just last year (so I remember vividly) and had a little discomfort that day but after that felt normal.  Did they have complications or not numb the area first?  The numbing just takes the edge off the top layer, so not really a total numbing.  I know they gave me the option of Valium, but figured why would I do that with my liver, so I had no other pain medication other than the local numbing.  I wonder if many use the Valium or another pain/relaxer?  At any rate, I do bot believe those of us who have had a good experience with our biopsy have not lied pain wise but that it was just a different experience than what you had.  I would not be opposed to another one, but now that I know they have Fibroscan available I probably will not do.  I hope you feel better soon and get good results!!

There is no anaesthesia which can be given deep into muscles while biopsy. Just peripheral subcutaneous lignocaine injection is given. Don't worry things will gradually normalise but will take lil time
