Jac567's attitude is the winning attitude.
Hepatitis B can be passed from mother to child at birth. It can be prevented with vaccination, I got infected at birth, however I choose to have my daughter innoculated at birth the gave her an injection when she was one hour old. I did not like it but I wanted to stop passing the virus on she had a follow up booster at age 7 and I was told to get her antibodies checked at 15 years. mothers who are carriers of hepatitis B, should have their babies vaccinated and treated with hepatitis B immune globulin to prevent transmission of the virus. Hepatitis B vaccine does not contain live virus. It is safe for use by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Two brands of hepatitis B vaccine are available. One contains small amounts of thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative. Babies and children under 11 should preferably receive the version that does not contain any thimerosal.
how would i know how long i have been exposed to the virus? I was told I have the disease since birth apparently they can tell by the level of virus in your system also all my family got checked and it seems we were infected via a blood transfusion our mother received years earlier. Hepatitis B was discovered in 1961 and it is still a relatively new disease. Good luck and dont worry about your baby. My daughter is a fine healthy cheeky teenager who is very healthy and virus free. I so wanted to know where I got it and how but now that doesnt matter, I think with time you will learn to live with it and why worry when you could die of old age first!
Very difficult, and maybe not necessary. What is important now is to have your doctor monitor your liver. You may be very stable and no treatment is necessary. If you need treatment, the doctor will guide you.
Best.
