so ur hubby is hbeag pos, hbeab neg, hbvdna 7iu/ml?

i'd try alinia 2g daily and see if hbeag and hbsag lower, hbvdna will get und for sure, alt/ast might get a little elevated at first

i'd check every 3-6 months because lowering of antigens is very slow especially on hbeag pos and alinia monotherapy, even checking at 6 months is ok

hbsag esia is useless for a cronic patient

HBV-DNA virial load (real time PCR) Result  7iu/ml
this is very low maybe alinia can make totally negative and lower also your hbsag especially if your hbeag is negative

also make sure your vit d is between 50-60ng/ml, and you might even try to lower cholesterol by red yeast rce but we are sure about alinia and vit D while we don t know if lowering cholest has effect

can you help me interpret  the result of my bf  laboratories result as follows :

HBV-DNA virial load (real time PCR) Result  7iu/ml
Remarks  hbv - dna virial load  dectection limit:
6-110,000,000iu/ml (35-640,200,000 copies/ml 2.specimens with less than 6 iu/ml(640,200,000 copies/ml) is above the defined range of the test.
HbsAG  (EIA) reactive  patients   count =3.0

being still detactable after a year of tnf s not very good but 75 is low so you will probbly get und in the second year of treatment

alinia is the first thing (as you might have noticed i am taking it as well), but its action is mainly on virus antigens, in any case it should be able to get down hbvdna too since so low.you have to take the generic which is cheaper (nizonide500 by lupin or nitarid 500 by cipla or other generic available in ur country).1pill 500mg every 5-6hrs with food tilla total of 2g daily, its side effect can be mild diarrea so start with 3 pills daily and if you see some diarrea lasting more than 3 days take probiotics or yogurt.

Do you think eating the red yeast rice by itself is good? Or taking any supplement extract?
you have to choose a reliable brand where the extract of monacolin is certain, i have boght biostatine pharmalife research (italy), don t know if they sell everywhere

but better start with alinia and after you see a result from it, less hbvdna or less hbsag, add bitter melon and red yeast rice.this way you will know what works and what doesn t

in any case if you see hbvdna detactable after more than 1 year and a half it is better to add another antiviral, there is no resistance to tenofovir detected until now but it is not safe to have hbvdna detactable while on antivirals.
the choice of the other antivirals depends on the mutations that your hbv has, entecavir is the best choice if no lam mutants are present.but in any case try alinia first because the combo of antivirals is just to prevent resistance and might have sides, it has no effect on virus for clearance while alinia has

Thank you for your reply.

I have been taking tenofovir for a year and a month now.

it is a natural statin which lowers cholesterol, it is the same as chemical statins lovastatin/simvastatin but it has more potency with less sides effect.

monacolin k is the main ingredient in red yeast rice which lowers cholesterol
5-6mg of it daily are needed to lower cholesterol

http://www.hivandhepatitis.com/2009icr/aasld/docs/120409_a.html

we start from here, as usual when discoveries are about generic/cheap drugs there is no follow up, they just cover it and forget about it

i searched for the least dangerous for liver with similar effect: red yeast rice contains the statins (discovery of statins is from it), it contains mainly lovastatin that in vitro lowers hbsag. red yeast rice is more potent than statins, monacolin k is the main ingredient believed to lower cholesterol but there are probably others.the safe range is monacolin at about 6mg, if you increase to 10mg or more you have to test alt/ast monthly because even if rare the same sides of statins can occour
if you want to use simvasttin or lovastatin you can use them directly but do check alt/ast monthly if you have liver damage, if you have no liver damage alt elevations are not important

I am taking tenofovir right now, and my last dna count was 75 in November, but alt is still high, 54  so i don't know if these foods will help

how long since you started tenofovir?
it is better to add alinia(nitazoxanide) and see what happens and then those foods because we know alinia works on hbv in vivo but we have no confirmation for the others although a low cholesterol and good insulin/glucose ratio is always good for us

I heard of bitter melon.. but red yest rice? Do you know if it works?

Do you know if it's better to eat bitter melon cooked or raw?

Red Yest Rice, cooked by itself right?

I am taking tenofovir right now, and my last dna count was 75 in November, but alt is still high, 54  so i don't know if these foods will help?

how to improve the hbvdna ?

you can try these but we have in vitro data and don t know if it woeks in vivo, anyway none of these options is unhealthy or have sides at the right dose

red yest rice this will lower cholesterol which is used by virus to make virions and hbsag.the studies were made with simvastatin but i'd try red yeast rice first

bitter melon, it should act similar to rostiglitazone, a diabestes 2 drug which lowers hbvdna and hbsag in vitro

i'd definitely try nitazoxanide (alinia), 1 pill 500mg every 4.5 hrs to total 2g daily with food

how many percentage the chance to be cure?
we dont have one percentage yet because the trials were too small and too short on alinia, in any case it showed the higest serocovnersion rates among hbv drugs when hbeag was neg.you have to take it continuatively and nver miss a pill and check if hbsag decrease if it doesn t after 1 year stop alinia

check your hbsag quant in iu/ml by roches quant or architect, this can tell you the chances

don t waste your time it is older than lamivudine and interferon in some asian countires and never approved in US.the trials are all small and results are described in a way to let you think they have an effect while it has no effect alone and some effect in combo with interferon (hbeag seroconversion is not a good endpoint and doesn t make anything better than other drugs, even phillanthus boost hbeag seroconversion, the point is hbvdna und (at least <6iu/ml) or hbsag seroocnversion

i was following it from the first pubblished trials but it is very disappointing and almost useless, low dose ldn might be more effective than zadaxin but at least if it has no effect on your pocket, it is almost free
