I have a chronic hep B, doest it mean that I am a hep B virus carrier for the rest of my life?
Is there any possibility that the virus will be cleared?

acute hbv clears by immune system on adults, so no treatments needed or allowed.hbsag will take from 6 to 12 months to clear so you will be retested in that time in the meantime there are almost no virions or liver damage if alt is normal and hbvdna und so you have nothing to be worried about

Hi Chick 1967,
I am similar to you as never did IV drugs, drank only during teenage and early adult years, have had only a couple of boyfriends. I was just called by my doctor's office to say that I am Chronic Hep B. I was in the hospital 6 weeks ago because I turned yellow. I thought I had a terrible flu. Then my AST, ALT and Bilirubin levels were high. Now my AST and ALT are normal, my bilirubin is down but high at 2.2. The doctor's office said my hep b surface antigen is positive and my hep b core is negative. I called to see a specialist and can't get in until April 24th. I am feeling a lot better but am now am so frightened with this call from the doctor since before I was told I am acute hep b. Not sure what to do with this long wait to see the specialist. Any suggestions. I can't sleep I sm so worried.

CHB patients clear the virus at a rate of about 1% per year.

Meaning it is still possible that a CHB can be cleared?

For most, they carry the virus for life, for a few, they clear the virus.

With or without the virus, you can live a normal life.  Make sure you stay on top of your condition and monitor or treat your liver appropriately.

Best.
