test results dont understand

I tested positive for Hep B three days ago. Results are as followed:
HBsAg = NEG
anti-Hbc= NEG
anti HBS = NEG    Could this be a False Positive Test? My Doc said that I was 0.2 on a scale of 0.0 - 0.9 don't understand what that means and the scale interpretation. I am not sure she understands as a General practitioner.
Tested Negative for HIV, Hep A, Hep C, Gonorhhea, Syphilis, Chlymidia, HPV
Back in 2001 I had only one shot of Hep B vaccine and did not return for the last two shots
I asked to be retested. Waiting on test results. I am a big user of Orlistat diet pills  I had a tatto done in a shop in 1998 and another tatto in a shop in Nov 1998. I do not drink and I have had unprotected sex , the last time in 2001. I also need to have my kidneys checked.

You have to understand that we are lot more conversant here with HCV than HBV so you kind of have to bear with us, but we will try to help you all we can.  I know how terrifying it is when you are pregnant that anything at all you do could affect your child.  I got pre-eclampsia and had to be induced early with mine, but he's 19 yrs old now, and beautiful and smart and just fine.  So try not to worry.

Now, on your second test, did it say the actual "word" "positive" anywhere on the test?  If not, then I suspect you were exposed to the Hep B virus at some time, maybe in a small quantity and your body built some antibodies to it.  That does not mean you have the virus.  They can probably do a test similar to the HCV test where they do check for actual Hep B in the bloodstream I would guess, I'm not certain, but I would think so.  I would see perhaps an endocrinologist or a renal specialist (hell, what do they call doctors who specialize in renal disease because I can't think straight this morning.  Oh duh.  A urologist.  Yeah.  That's it.)  Ok.  I would see the urologist first.  Get your kidneys checked out because in pregnancy you need those puppies.  A LOT.  Get a more sensitive test for Hep B IN THE BLOODSTREAM as opposed to the antibodies if they offer that.  Its possible the urologist will do that, if not a digestive disease specialist or hepatologist can do that for you.  This way, you will have the most important thing as you complete your pregnancy, peace of mind.

And tell your boyfriend that you've thought about it, and you've decided you have a bias you just can't get over.  You don't want your baby growing up with a jailbird who lies to get out of his commitments.  And find a guy who will treat you and your baby right.

I believe you are neg for hep b since the core Ab is neg.  Did you test for 'surface antigen'?  I believe you are neg with immunity from vaccine because you have surface antibody with neg core.

Please confirm this with your doc but I believe you are neg for hbv.

I hope this helps.  Good luck with everything.

The Doctor would not speak to me on the phone however the first time she did and was not compassionate at all , told me that I was so contagious, pick up a referral for GI, high level toxins in blood. She was down right awful. I am negative however if I were positive, as she stated, there is no reason to ever be that cruel to anyone. Damn she's a Doctor, wouldn't she question all the neg factors in the first test and see they don't match a positive result. HELLO. I was doing some research and I have some of the symptons of kidney problems (metallic taste in my mouth in the morning, itching, forgetfulness due to toxins in blood) and there has been high protein found in my urine on past tests). I really believe that there is definitely something going on with my kidneys. Have an appt for that this Thursday, different Doc of course. Oh and Jakied, I told my boyfriend who is incarcerated about the first results on Friday and he then stated I can't come see him on Sat--he might be heading for the hole....Talk to him tonight about an hour ago, told him I'm negative now he's not going to the hole. He's cold and I thought he loved me. All I've done for him, work my but off, good salary/ LA county employee with Dept of Public Social Services, good person and this is how he treated me as if with Disgust....Screw Him...He's history.....I can do much better. I would have been supportive of him. He really boke my heart. I guess a person's true character shows over time.

Your first line says you tested pos.

lines 2, 3 and 4 says you are neg for surface antigen, core antigen and antibody.

I am very confused now about your test.  i have a feeling the doctor is mistaken and you are neg but does the lab report say 'pos for hep b ?'

Let us know about the retest.  Don't panic.  I have a feeling you are neg but something is wrong.

Thank you. My Doc told me over the phone that I tested Positive and that I was Contagious and not to have unprotected sex. I went to the Doc's office on my lunch break and she stated that she wanted to refer me to a GI Specialist for a liver biopsy. She refused to give me a copy of my test results after I told her I was going to call the hospital for an intrpretation of it. She still maintains that I have Hep B and I am the one that asked for a retest. I wrote down what I remembered from reading my results. She said the 0.2 is high even with the negative HBsAG, anti-Hbc, anti-hbs. The finding on that lab report stated POSITIVE for Hep B. My retest results should be back next tuesday afternoon. I don't know alot about this however I do know much about Hep C because my Father has it (perhaps 20+ years). He has good days and bad but overall he's a fighter.

Why r u stressed out?  Your test is neg.  The screening test for hbv and hcv tests for antibodies and 'other stuff' ends up in the soup as well.  that is why the NEG range is up to .9.  This is NOT a false pos test.  This is a neg test.  Congratulations!
