Pursuing treatment

Hcv Genotype 1A Nonresponder 1998 Interferon/Rebetron treatment
I have went through 4 biopsies and a Fibrospect II serum test. My results are
1996-mild lymphocytic triaitis and minimal histologic hepatitis
2004-Mild activity  (Grade 2), Mild portal fibrosis (stage 1)
2007-Inflammatory (Grade 1), Fibrosis (stage 0)
2012-Fibrospect II Index Score 90 F2-F4,  ALT-108     AST-80
2012-(Grade 1), (Stage 0)
I don't know whether to wait for new treatments to be made available or to go back into the treatments available now.  It doesn't seem that my disease has progressed much. The blood serum test doesn't seem to be an accurate
way to determine liver damage. It stated I had 93.3% chance of havingF2-F4.  F2(septal fibrosis)F3(bridging fibrosis) F4(Cirrhosis) I am on the list to be considered for clinical trials where I meet their criteria.  I can't talk to the gastro doctor I have been put with.  Any advice would be helpful.

Your markers for fibrosis are a bit confusing. When was your last biopsy and what was the result of that ?.
What kind of non responder   ,a null responder( 2logs at week 12 but never cleared the virus) ,or completed treatment and relased after the drugs were stopped.?

Not knowing more about your overall health or other possible medical conditions it seems like you have a little time on your side to seriously consider a clinical trial. Maybe even with the all-oral (Interferon free) meds if it is possible.

The duration of treatment for a non-responder for triple therapy (a protease inhibitor, peginterferon alfa-2b and ribavirin) is 48 weeks. That is just about a year of  krappy side effects. It is completely doable but it can be a bit of a strain. Keep us informed whatever you decide to do!!

If you are a true non-responder and not a relapser with very little liver damage time seems to be on your side and you might very well be better off waiting for new drugs. Fibrospect or fiborsure tests are not very good for people in the middle stages but in your case seems to be about where your biopsies are.

Clinical trials can be great, just read the fine print....... Wishing you the best.
