Liver Cyst

Hello again.  I finally got ahold of my doctor after he left a message for me to call the office yesterday.  My CT scan revealed one "area of concern" in which the doctor believes I may have a cyst.  He's referring the scan to my hepatologist, whom I'll speak with later this week.  I was happy to hear of only one area of concern.  I understand cysts on our internal organs can be common and often benign.  I was just wondering if anyone else had issues with a liver cyst and what course of action, if any, was taken.

Thanks!

Those are words I'm happy to read.  You've helped me to put my anxiety into perspective.  Thank you!  And I appreciate the education on "hemangiomas".  I didn't know that.  I'll keep you posted.

Like Bill said hemangiomas are fairly common. The next step is usually an MRI to clarify. Best of luck

Obviously, the term cyst or lesion can be disconcerting when they’re poking around our liver. Hopefully, it’s only a ‘hemangioma’; a common and usually benign growth of blood vessels often found during CT or U/S scan. Unless it’s unusually large or causing discomfort, there’s no need for medical intervention. Of course, it could be something else, but these are fairly common; my money’s on this :o). Good luck with your upcoming appointment,

Bill
