Liver Biopsy

Hi all, Just wanted to share that I had the liver biopsy today and it went great!!!  I did as many of you suggested and asked for DRUGS and never felt a thing.  Acutally, I barey remember the procedure.  I asked the Dr how many of these he does and he said 4 to 5 a day.  He explained what he would be doing, and the noises I would hear and then began by using the sono to find the location to put the needle.  At that point he told the nurse to give me some juice (in the iv) and the next thing, I was in recovery and the whole thing was over. I was home in less than three hours after I left the house.  Been napping today and feel great. NO Pain at all, just a tad discomfort if I roll the wrong way. No neck/shoulder pain either.  I guess now it will be the waiting...they said it will be 3 weeks before I get all my info from my gastrogentologist at the follow up appt.

I am ready for whatever they deem best - thanks to you all.  I have a total peace about everything and am thankful for the wisdom and info I get on this site.  I know I can do it and I will not be alone.

May God bless all of us and our families.

Hi Annette!

It sounds like we're on the same schedule as far as seeing docs/treatment, etc. go.  I hope we can go through it together!  My first appointment with my hepatologist is next Tuesday (the 13th).  I'll let you know how it went - hope you'll do the same on the 17th.

My daughter has a hard time with bloodwork as well, cause her veins are just about impossible to find.....if they use a "butterfly" it is much easier on her...unfortunately, when she asks them to..many times they say,,,oh..I can do it...and then they torture her until they give up and get the damned butterfly.....haahaaaaa..it's really not funny she hates to have blood taken.
My other daughter stayed with me after the biopsy and then when I left the hospital we went to the movies.....after I had another percoset..hhahhaa...my family thought I was crazy.....hhahaha...peice of cake...:) berlynn

I'm glad to hear that everything went so smoothly....it is also good for others to hear that the biopsy isn't always that bad of an experience to get through.  Mine was also a relatively easy experience (as far as the biopsy went)..   My only problem was from than the fact that when I went in I was dehyrated and it took 4 different nurses... trying several times each... before they could get a vein.. and by that time I was just.....a little freaked out.....haahaha... more so cause I more than ever needed what ever drug they were going to give me to relax.....hhhaaahahaaa ....at that point, I thought they should have given me twice as much to relax me from their "attempts" to relax me.....hhahahaaa..
You take care and let us know when you get your info back.  berlynn

Glad to hear things went so well, I only just got my first consult with a GI for Jan 17. This waiting for each new step is the hardest for sure.  I guess after the consult..I'll hopefully be ready for my biopsy too!  This has been encouraging for sure, cuz this scares me too! Take care and hope no damage has taken place. Annette

Glad it went OK. The wait is hard. We all pray for good results with no damage. Take it easy though you still have to heal and this does take a few days. Don't do any heavy lifting.

I'm so happy it went smoothly and hope you hear good results.  Hope some of that "juice" lingers and gives you a great night's sleep!
