8 Bells and all is well - still clear and enzymes OK

Did a 9 1/2 month (post TX) VL for no other reason than Sharon Stone is still so hot and 9 1/2 weeks seemed too soon - hence 9 1/2 months.

Still undetected and liver enzymes are better this time around. ALT 20/AST 18. Albumin has been running a touch high, don't understand that but no worries there, and bili is right where it should be. Next one to knock down is blood sugar.... hello Kale, goodbye Linguini with Clams... ugh.

Forgot to mention, I was subjected to the random digit test, but that was at the proctologist. I incorrectly guess thumb for pinky, and was hastily shown the error in my ways....while re-learning how to count to three....the hard way.

Sorry, I was hurried before and missed a few questions.

Flguy: Not much improvement on that front. And a front it is soon to become, I'm afraid.

Chellski: Most significant post tx side is lack of memory/concentration. It's not like I've gone stupid, more like chronic jet lag. I'm becoming convinced I've had a degree of ADD and some combination of liver disease, very low hgb, INF therapy, ascerbated the condition.

Dyce: Please ref comments on pounding the chicken

Bug: No - lactulose still safely shelved at the pharmacy. No amonia tests.

Strator: On polishing the equipment, please also ref pounding the chicken...

NYgirl: Soon as I heard you could 'do anything' I figured you to start flirting with me :)

Jim: I'm usually early myself Bro. Ref the back-seat Betty post below.

AZgirl: Stilly nutty as ever. Unfortunately they're just a few inches lower than they once were. Hey how's family life, Mom? And how's the expanded biz. And the smart hubby that likes the pop-top?

Willing: I remember the first time off tx being able to remember a phone number long enough to dial it like I remember that first time with back-seat Betty in Dad's Vega, which ironically lasted about as long as dialing the number. I only did 26 weeks of the junk. But it really whacked my blood work, so presumably it was whacking something else too, which, surprisingly enough, brings me full-circle back to that chicken.....

Good news! Sharon Stone will be flattered. How's the ammonia level or was that not tested? Started the lactulose yet?

Congratulations! Given your current enzymes, what's with all this ammonia stuff and talking like you're on the brink of cirrhosis? From what I've read here, it often takes time for enzymes to normalize after treatment which yours have now done.

Re ammonia again, I would think an ammonia test might be in order before taking lactoluse if for no other reason than to get a baseline, not that lactulose seems toxic from what HR says, and then again a double trip to the bathroom might be a bonus for some.  Personally, I'm trying to stay away from as many meds (and doctors) as possible these days and plan to hold a garage sale for my medicine cabinet.

My Albumin is also a little high from time to time. LOW Albumin suggests liver problems, high albumin suggests dehydration. So drink up and it should go into normal range. BTW my 9 month post tx was also negative so I called up Kim Bassinger to celebrate, but maybe I was half a month too early cause never heard back.

All the best,

-- Jim

Thanks for the encouragement, ya knickleheadds! I have a great new job - I actually look forward to it. That keeps me busy and feeling good.

FLguy - I took the little one to Sugar Bowl ski resort - he's taken a shine to snow boarding.

Copyman - Fasting glucose is at the high end of normal - upper 90's or so. Probably an artifact of the liver disease, but I think I can help it quite a bit if I get agressive. I think it was flirting in that area prior to tx too.

Great news Sir! truly, all's well that ends well.

Re mild cognitive dysfunction, my subjective impression is that 48 weeks of immune overdrive did more damage than 30+ years of putative ammonia elevation, but perhaps I'm just a tad negative. Still, it would be interesting to see a study comparing  short-term memory skills (eg how many random digits can one remember), timed puzzle-solving, etc. before/after tx. Anyone come across one?

Very nice goof, I am very happy for you.  My glucose went up on tx as well and is hovering a bit over 100 - pounding the skinless chicken and broccoli these days, what I wouldnt do for some Linguini with Clams aaahhh.  Happy snowboarding, I am going to take that up once I get these pesky 100 or so extra pounds off.  Probably be good to go by spring with a XXXL board.  LOL.

Well as long as we're airing our dirty little secrets, I've been pounding the skinless chicken once and a while myself. But don't let on to Forsee(chicken)skins -- she hates that kinda talk.

Good news on the vl. So, with the junk (hcv and tx) out of you for a while - how do you feel?  I read you thinker comments in the ammonia thread, but wondering what lingering physical effects still remain from either tx or the crud? I'm kind of curious about BS levels too. I've never been very good at major lifestyle changes and tx gives the excuse to ingnore things glucose (a mistake I'm sure). I hope that domestic things are going well.  I read that you and L'il went to a bowl game.  Took my son to one a few years ago (employer was sponsor and got access to lots of things).  Kid still talks about it - a good bonding adventure.
