my gastro ordered my meds today and i should get them in a few days. i am wondering, having a 2 and 3 yr old at home, husband works, but i have an 18yo son who is in college. is it better to take the shot on maybe a wed, thur, or fri? my kids go to daycare on thurs and my husband is home on the weekends and my 18yo son has fri off to help with the kids if needed. i don't want to be sick on the weekends(if i get sick). any imput? and how long do fevers, nausea and flu like feelings go on for after shot? thanks

For me the SX of the IFN shot lasts 2 days. I do the shot on fridays but I don't have kids so I understand why you would want to do it during the week (do it the day you have less hassle) . Hopefully you'll get used to TX real fast and you will be able to decide which day is best.
Drink lots of water, eyedrops in gel, saline solution for the nose, 2 Ibuprofen or Tylenol for shot night, gold bond for riba rash and good luck to you . welcome to the show :-)

I echo what Scuba said. Your logic makes sense. It sounds as if Wednesday nights might be the best shot night for you. Just in case it has not been permantly been hammered in your head by everyone here :), water, water.

Hope your sx are minimum if not none.

I have 2 year old twins and I went through treatment last year.  I do not work and I was able to take care of them up until the last month.  I finally hired a nanny for a few weeks bc the treatment really wore me down towards the end.

I took my shots on Fridays thinking the worst sx would happen on the weekends when my hubby was here.  Turns out, the worst sx came on Monday's and Tuesday's for me.  I hear it is different for everybody.

From what you've described, it seems you might want to do your shot on Wednesday nights since you have child care the next day.  I think you have a smart plan.  You can always adjust your shot schedule if you have to.  It is not recommended but it is an option if things don't workout the way you want.

I think your logic is very sound.  I have an almost 3 year old and did something similar.  I would do my shot on Thursday nights and always had help on Fridays. Then my hubby was home on Saturdays and Sundays to help.  It worked well for me.  I could not have done tx without the help I received from my family.  Use all your resources!  Good luck, and please please let us know how you are doing! :)

as far as shot timing, I started out doing my at night so that I would "sleep through" the worst of it. But, I got earlier and earlier as the weeks went on because I HATED having my sleep interrupted and I wanted the worst to be over before I went to sleep for the night.  I would start out doing your shot in the evening, and go from there. Also, be sure to take something for the aches and pains.  I took 2 tylenol pm around shot time each week and it really did help take the edge off!  :)

I used the peg-intron and was told that if I missed a day it was ok to take it the next. I was a little nervous about this, but I wanted to switch shot days during tx becuase circumtances changed. So I went from Thursday night to early Friday morning, then Friday night. The point is that you can always move the day if it doesn't work out with your dr permission.

Sides differ week to week.  Basically the day after not to bad...a little slow and maybe a slight headache.  The next day is when I am moving even slower.  On monday I  am picking spead back up.  But then again like I said its a different story even from week to week let alone person to person.  Good luck.  Do do it when you can have a couple days of less hassle together.

Congratulations!! I'm proud of you and hope everything goes well. My shot night is Friday because I have a M-F work schedule, sort of. I have gone in weekends and will be going in tomorrow for a few hours. I believe the 2 days after my shot  are the worst tho.
Keep trying to educate your family. It takes so long for us to "get it" regarding tx, it's really hard for our families to understand initially. I can't believe how quickly you are getting everything done! Good luck with tx and those little ones.
