ADVICE ON TEST RESULTS
I have a meat market hospital. Run you through, get your Insurance and forget about answers that your Insurance paid. Do not know if I am in the right Forum, So forgive me if not.
I have a son (age 13) that had test on 7-09--08. I went for his chart on 7-10-08 and accidentally got results of his test before the Doctors called. I am still waiting and they know he is really sick. Please look at these results and if I do not give you all you need to know respond back and I will do my best.
He did a test that you flex your arm for 45 seconds and do tests before and so many min utes and times after. It was 22 tubes with blood gases and tests.
If I do not have the test on here it was normal.

AMMONIA LEVELS IN DIFFERENT STAGES OF HOURS ON TEST WERE 55-71AND AFTER 10 POST IN FINALLY WENT TO 39. RANGE OF NORMAL IS 9- 33.
WHEN HE WALKS AT ALL HE GETS SEVERELY ILL. THEY HAVE DIAGNOSED HIM WITH A NEW DISEASE EVERY WEEK SINCE MARCH 08. WE HAVE BEEN ILL SINCE 9-07. hE GAINED 50 LBS. FROM 11-08 TO 6-08.
HE ALMOST LOST EYE SIGHT IN LEFT EYE BECAUSE NEURO DID NOT LISTEN TO EYE DR.
WHEN THEY FINALLY DID HE LOST 17 LBS IN 2 WKS. THE BOY WAS SO SWOLLEN HE LOOKED LIKE IF YOU SQUEEZED HIS LEGS WATER WOULD OOZE. IT TOOK 3 WKS FOR THESE TEST AFTER HE LOST 17 LBS.
NOW THEY FINALLY HAVE SOMETHING TO GO ON BESIDES TELLING ME IT IS IN HIS HEAD BECAUSE THEY DO ONT KNOW. WE HAVE HAD 2 SPINAL TAPS, 7 MRI'S OF SPINE AND BRAIN. TOLD HE HAS COGNITIVE DISEASE OF UNKNOWN ETIOLOGY. CSF WAS O.K EXCEPT HIGH GLUCOSE.
I FOUND OUT FROM ONE OF THE FORUMS ABOUT WHAT AMMONIA WILL DO BUT I REALLY DO NOT KNOW WHAT ALL THIS OTHER MEANS. PLEASE GIVE OPINIONS. I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO HELP HIM. THE DOCTORS WILL NOT CALL ME BACK AND EVEN TELL TEST RESULTS, WHEN THEY DO NOT KNOW THAT I HAVE THEM,
THEY EVEN PUT A STAT ON THESE TEST AND WAS CALLED ACCORDING TO CHART 30 MIN. AFTER WE LEFT OFFICE. NO ONE HAS CALLED YET.
IS THIS AS BAD AS I THINK? ANY IDEAS HOW TO HELP HIM TODAY. WHAT DOES THIS SEEM TO MEAN?
I AM GOING TOMORROW TO PATIENT ADVOCATE BUT THAT DOES NOT HELP MY 13 YR. OLD NOW.
WILL TAKE ANY ADVICE AND OPIONS. I APPRECIATE WHO READS THIS.

Just need a Dr. To do his Job. Tomorrow is going to get VERY UGLY!
My son has been getting sicker everyday. Tomorrow I am going to patient Advocate with the results and when they see this hopefully someone will do their job. Someone will do something before the day is out. I have to wait and hear from them how bad it is then I will go from there. I just hate to see my son suffer for so long now now we have an answer they suspected for months and never did the test. Now they did it that is all they will do. I hope his Dr. had as bad a weekend as my son did. Somehow I doubt it.

I'm so sorry your son is ill and that you are getting no response from the doctors. I have no idea about lab tests so I cannot be of any help to you but my prayers are with you and your son. I hope you get some information from the doctors very soon!
