PCR for a 3rd time?

SO with all of the obamacare stuff coming up. I wanted to get a physical before the end of the year. In June 2012, I tested positive for the antibodies. The following week I got my pcr results back, and I was negative. My doc said she wanted to re-test in 6 months to make sure. So we re tested in December. Still negative.

So last week, I went in for my physical. And the doc asked me if I wanted to re-test for " peace of mind ". And my face about dropped to the floor. I thought the 2nd test would give me peace!

Then, I get a call saying my WBC count is a bit low. SO she wants to re-do blood work from the physical. Should I just do it? PCR 3rd time ( along with more blood work that I must do for this physical )

I'm pretty terrified to go back in for a 3rd test. I spent this whole year recovering mentally from this horror period in my life.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You have had 2 Neg . PCR's which means you do not have HCV.

The pos. AB test may have been as the above poster mentioned .....you were exposed to HCV at one time and cleared it   or   if the test showed a "weak" positive it was most likely a "false" positive

Does your doc have much experience with HCV treatment?  If you have not engaged in risky behavior, then you should still be clear.  However, if your insurance pays for it and you have to get tested for your low WBC anyway, why not?

I had HCV for 25 years.  In 2011 I failed triple treatment and in 2013 I cured on a Gilead Sofosbuvir + Ledipasvir trial for triple failures.  On my last visit, I was advised to get a yearly HCV test to make sure the virus is still gone, which I will do.

Maybe your doc is thinking along those lines.  If you have HCV antibodies, you HAD HCV at one time but spontaneously cleared (lucky you).  An HCV test once a year won't hurt.
