Acid reflux stopped liver enzymes raised

I have been on prilosec for 15 years..last dec 2006 my stomach bloated while i was eating...It was almost like there was no acid left for digestion....I backed off on the prilosec to 1  10 mg every 3 days...and in febuary 2007 NO PRILOSEC.....while this was going on my LFT's were rising...ALT flucuating between 65 and 125   AST 55 to 69...and smooth muscle @ 1:40...He said there's no connection..I seem to disagree..I have been doing alot of research and i found that low stomach acid from chronic use of PPI's long term you are setting yourself up for diseases

I take PB 8 acidolphilus  no more burning, reflux for the last 6 months or so..My doctor wants to do a liver biopsy on me in a few weeks.....
Is there any connection here????

Hi, How are you....I had another blood test 2 weeks ago and got my results

I didn't take xanax that morning....

ANA       Negative
SMA       1:40
ALT         122
AST         62

All other tests in normal ranges

My liver doc wants a follow up visit...He stopped mentioning  liver biopsy

So apparently this is not autoimunne

Thanks for your response....Since i am off the prilosec my digestion is awesome..and regular every morning .As long as i can remember while on this drug i always had bloating, constipation. I had to live on laxatives, metamucil etc... I lost 10 lbs being off of this drug and my stomach doesn't blow up as i eat...Lately, I also cut all simple sugars, and high fructose corn syrup seen in most drinks like sodas, gatorade and iced teas...One of my doctors told me that sugar raises triglycerides and alt ast in the liver...Since this i have lost another 3 lbs....I'm actaully in the right weight range now  with a normal BMI index...

I have no symptoms of liver disease...I had tests done dor hep b + c  all negative,,,My gastro doc thinks its related to autoimmune hep because i had a positive ana...I have read that xanax can give false positive ana's...I guess the biopsy will tell whats happening..

manybe you just have a good doc who wants to do what they ALL should be doing...ruling out liver disease. Maybe he figures your stomach is fine, then it may be a liver issue...in any case take it!!!!!!!!!yippeee a doc that thinks to test...how rare they are.......

they wanted to treat me for stomach stuff....I knew it wasn;t my stomach..
so I made em scope it.....and sure enough no problemo

yes antacids cause malnutrion. stomach acid is esential for digestion.absoption.

bloating can feel like stomach when it is colon, or enlarge spleen and liver as in Hepatitis.
