caregiver? I wanna caregiver!!! whahhhh!!!! ;)
I'm the only caregiver around here and the bunnies and cats both need their litter changed. Son still sick with stomach virus. Uggh!
Seriously, my best friend did come by and clean for me this weekend but that's about as much care as I get. LOL
not sure if you know but I was told by my hep doc not to change the litter box while on tx - too much bacteria for a low white cell count
Wow - and my wife makes me go outside, in -40 to pick up the dog poo (before it gets covered in snow). Guess I am doomed (or is dog poo cleaner than kitty remains?). Such is life in Canada I guess, maybe the cold kills all bacteria anyway? I can look forward to this shortly, we must be in for snow soon (always before Halloween) :-)
toxoplasmosis - hadn't even thought about it, but I know I couldn't change the box when I was pregnant due to that. Hey this is awesome! A built in reason to have my kid do all the litter duty.
Or... I could just wear gloves and wash my hands really well ;) -- that's what I do now. We have a littermaid so its not so bad...

Nah, I think it just dies under the weight of that 50 percent tax rate (ducking) ;)
LOL you got that backwards - the CND hit 1.05 today to the USD $1.00 - but as of a few hours ago the CND is back to $1.03 to the USD - for the first time in 40 years the CND is higher than the USD
how do you like that litter maid thingee?
I should have put = not too. Yes, it dropped down a little again. You really will be able to "Blame Canada" soon though (aka South Park), as we will own you soon the way things are going:-)
whoops, you are right, mixed up. $1 CDN = $1.05 US. Too confusing for brain fogged mind.
Caregiver? I don't even have an "in case of emergency" person. Haven't started treatment, but I am really getting worried. Daughter is never around since I quit paying child support last December (she's 25).
So, what do Canadians have to pay for curing hep c? Isn't everyone on a national health care system?
Littermaid is way cool. this is my 2nd machine. Got the first ten years ago right after the cats.
MOA - That's the Riba for ya.
It doesn't cover drugs in most Provinces. But, most Provinces have subsidised insurance, which can be obtained for around $30 per month, even with existing condition. In Alberta, Blue Cross will cover combo therapy, but not Eprix (my works insurance would cover if I had needed it).
ok, well, there's always thinking of the cat as a caregiver....they really do cuddle when we're sick....lot of comfort.
but back to human beings....just thinking of how to keep them from running screaming....even if I do manage to clean myself and chucks up, it doesn't mean our mates/kids, if we have any, don't get worn down doing all the heavy lifting while we get what looks like a vacation on the couch.
granted is you are at the exploding inside stage, it's not much of a fun trip.....
(and to think as a kid the couch was Pan Am flight 109 and took me to every exotic place)
but I can see physical weariness in MY caregiver.....and I'm sure friends, or county services who help have their own versions of discouragement.
I guess I was looking for who has ideas of how to help them cope. (feeling like the Riba raves take their toll too on them)......
why not just kick more snow on them?? then when they're good and frozen go back and grab em with a leaf pic...........gives new meaning to sh on a stick! .
That's what I try to tell my wife Merrybe. But one we get snow in Edmonton, it stays till Spring next year. Last year, this went from October 8 to about April. When the snow melts - it is not that pleasent as the poo melts too. Some people train their dogs to use a certain area of the yard, but our dog is too dumb (or we are too lazy) :-)
My wife gives me zero sympathy for me re being tired / lazy / brain fog, but maybe this is for the best. No point in feeling sorry for myself, best for me probably to try to keep routine as normal as possible (including the doggie doo).
forgot to mention - there is a standown period in Canada for insurance (at least in Alberta). In my case, it was 6 months (both for Blue Cross or Work insurance). As I was acute, and needed to treat fast to maximise possibility of positive result, the drug company Roche helped out and covered my first 3 months of treatment, until work insurance kicked in.
The drug company programs are pretty good in my experience, and worth checking out.
I'm trying to do that routine as normal thing too. I'll let you know how it works out...
It is easier said than done re routine, but keeping busy does make time fly faster I think. I get more sympathy for being sick at work oddly enough (I shut my office door when I am a bit miserable) :-)

One of the advantages of living in South Louisiana. It still is in the mid 70s and I can just run it over with the lawn mower.
