Ad for silver snake oil on this site

by BThompson4, Oct 17, 2007 06:23PM
I can't believe the front page of this forum now has ads for Mesosilver® Colloidal Silver Hepatitis C Treatment.  The Almighty Dollar trumps any sense of decency by the administrators.

I don't think MH has control (or even knowledge) over every ad served here.

My understanding is that a per cent of them are context sensitive. For example, post something with "hemmroid" in the subject line and don't be surprised to see an add for "Preparation H". If you feel this to be an important issue, why don't you write to MedHelp and perhaps they can exclude certain ads if within the power or policy.

Being from Chicago originally, my attitude toward such ads is the same as my attitude toward political contributions:  I'll take your money, but I'm not going to let it influence me.  You can't buy my vote or my patronage.

why don't you provide some factual proof of your libelous and tortious statement about mesosilver? i don't work for them but you had better watch it. this stuff has been lab tested independently, at least their pure silver colloid has. Go see their site and others on the web. it is the best on the market. who do you work for?

who do you work for?  lol

cracking up.

jim's right though, sadly, I'm not certain they can block content from the silver snake oil salesmen from colloidol silver even though we know the fda doesn't approve its use.  you know its funny, but to have someone create a profile in order to respond to our posts in our own group that quickly, they must have someone sitting with their finger on the google button for any new post on colloidol silver

by alagirl, Jul 09, 2008 07:35PM
oh wait, never mind, that was from last year.  LOL guess that wasn't that fast after all

by Rockerforlife, Jul 09, 2008 08:08PM
Just because the fda does not approve anything does not mean it doest work or its not safe...the fda only approves of pharmcuticials ..they cant approve of natural cures ...but im still wary of the silver thing....the fda are only in it for the money...they couldt give a rats a..ss about your health.

To: FDA
The whole thing is scary.

Here is an agency - the FDA - which is understaffed and not keeping up with technology - faced with the possibility of assuming even more control over our very being.   USA Today published a story - citing an independent panel review of the FDA - which revealed that the agency has about the same size staff as 15 years ago.  According to the article, Instead of being proactive, the agency (FDA) is often in "fire-fighting" mode.

To: Benefits of Coconut Oil
Why are We Misinformed?
In one word: economics. Beginning with a flawed study four decades ago, continuing through the 1950s, intensifying in the 1980s, and again in the 1990s, the misinformation about coconut oil has been promulgated by such economically motivated organizations as the American Soybean Association (ASA), the Corn Products Company (CPC International) and the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI). They are aided by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), many of whose key personnel are recruited from and return to the vegetable oil industry. Previously, coconut oil was widely used in baked goods and fried goods until their publicity campaigns, based on erroneous information, totally discredited coconut oil and caused its nearly complete elimination from the American diet.

Finally, after years of denial, The FDA and CSPI are finally talking about the harmful effects of trans fatty acids, evidence of which has been accumulating since the 1950s. Nonetheless, they continue to disparage coconut oil and take no effective action to limit TFAs, which already have been banned in some European countries. TFAs will finally be listed on food labels, starting in 2006 — why has it taken them so long! TFA dangers have been known for decades and continue to cause disease! News items coming from the USDA and FDA still lump TFAs with saturated fats, which are natural and do contain nutrients vital for our bodies. The current FDA Consumer's Guide to Fats was last updated in 1999 and consistently warns against (all) saturated fats, while failing to mention any harmful effects of trans fatty acids.

How effective is this brainwashing? Many of you will not believe the facts on these pages and will continue to avoid coconut oil and coconut milk out of health concerns. Despite the proven benefits. We invite you to investigate further.

This reminds me of soy milk. It's not soy milk, its soy juice. But they can't advertise it as soy juice, because just the thought of it would make one gag, so they package it as soy milk. And everyone knows there's no such thing as soy milk because there's no soy titty. Is there?
