I wonder if any one could help me, my doctor has told me to cut down on the amount of alcohol i am drinking as i have an elevated GGT the last reading was 63 is this a really bad reading or is the doctor just being a typical god fearing doctor, who says one thing and they do the opposite.

Thanks for the "words from the wise", I guess it is fairly common for the thyroid to take a beating.  I can't believe how much better I am feeling, my mind is clearer, my energy level is going up, I HOPE THIS LASTS!!!  Good to hear you are feeling better Jim and Layla.  OHC

I had kept my med boxes and we burned them at the state park on right after I finished (pix on hotheps).  I think we did send up a few fireworks that evening, too.  Enjoy your celebration!

I didn't do anything much but the weirdest thing was shaking the feeling of needing to worry about my shots. I didn't have that with the riba so much because I was on thyroid meds I have to take daily. That feeling  went on for a long time. I am very happy that your finishing and I hope you feel great soon. I was dissapointed I didn't feel any better for about a month but then it happened quit fast. Getting rid of my 71 used needles was great. I still have that last bottle of pegasys in my frig and will get rid of that when I get my SVR. LL

OHC. The symptoms from thyroid were terrible for me. The meds make a huge difference but like okie Jim says they take a bit to totally ajust in your symptom. I also felt the affects of the meds within days. Glad your feeling better. LL

Yes give the synthroid a little time. It will work. It took me about two weeks to come back once dx with hypo.  Sorry to here you took the dive also. I just had another check and I'm at the right dose now. One more for the mix. I love getting older each year I have to take more meds. Hang in there your strength will come back.

I was too wiped out also to do anything wild and maniacal.  I did have my empty vials on a shelf in my bathroom, so on my last shot I gathered them all up and tossed um in the garbage, it was like spring cleaning after 48 weeks of dust and other wretched things accumulating.  Anyways, congrats on being almost done!!  I have been seeing drs to find out why I am so tired and weak.  All they have come up with is "its taking time for your body to detoxify the ribavirin" and low thyroid.  I just started on the syntroid a few days ago, and am feeling better today, dont know if it's the placebo effect, or if my thyroid was really making me feel that lousy?  Oh well, time will tell.      OHC

I didn't do anything special, afraid of celebrating to soon (did that last time and look what happened.) I did go sit in the hot tub with a cold glass of cranberry juice and some soft soothing music. (I was naked in the hottub does that count?) :)

I was WAY too wiped out to do any naked dancing :) so I took my last dose of Riba outside and had a burial ceremony in hopes the dragon was dead for good!

what special thing, ritual etc did you do on your last shot? did you dance in the moonlight naked,  pig out while watching an old movie, what did  you do? those close to ending, what are YOU planning to do? celebration ideas are welcomed. scott, you said you were blowing the vials as fireworks, did you?
going to the Olive garden is my daughter suggestion, but I want to do some maniacal thing...

Gamma Glutamyl Transferase is also located in the Prostrate. It might be worth having that checked as well.

NORMAL RANGE 7-64 U/l  
DEFINITION This is an enzyme made in the bile ducts. High levels may mean problems with the liver's bile ducts.

RESULT GGT is a very sensitive test, and can elevate if you use drugs or alcohol.


I would do as the DR says and cut back on the alcohol. you only 2 points from being in the high range.
