That is a possibility or that he was exposed in the past but was able to beat the virus on his own about 25% of people are able to do so. The important thing is the test for the hep c virus itself the HCV RNA by PCR test was not detected so he is not currently infected.
However, he will always test positive for antibodies to the hep c virus.
