If you have to educate your GI on what "grade" and "stage" means, there's something terribly wrong with him! Run as fast as you can! There's a wide range between cirrhosis and no cirrhosis. Please read my comments in the thread below regarding getting copies of all lab reports, including biopsy.
Good luck to you.

I agree with Susan. Make sure you get copy's of all your test, Blood work, Biopsy and anything else...
A Dr treating someone for Hep-C should know the result's and share them with you.
You defiantly want to get a second opinion. Maybe talk to the nurse and see if he is the type that doesn't think his patients will understand.

Thanks for the fast responce. I do plan to get copies of everything.
I saw the bx report and it did not have stage and grade on it at a glance but my copy will tell, I hope.
I had a CBC and everything was normal except the hemoblobin was a bit down at 10.9, so that's some good news.

LOL,,,I can definitely see why you had a puzzled look! I would to! Your dr should know about grades and stages and that is scary within itself. Get the copy and find a dr that knows more. And then,,,"oh about a 2"...Sounds like a guessing game. This is important to you and your health to know the facts and some drs are just so nonchalent at times about it. I know,,,because I had one also and had to find a new dr.
