svr in 7 treatments?

i just returned from my gastro. I started tx for hep c genome 3 on 5-11-09 1 shot weekly..i had to stop to get some sick leave in place as i could not work.
prior to stopping, i took 1 shot for 5 weeks and had a hcv rna quant. my #s before treatment were 234000 iu/ml and 468000copies/ml  at 4 weeks the #s were <5 iu/ml and <10 copies/ml.. I stopped my treatment 3 weeks later.  took first test on 06/05/09  i ended treatment on 06/18/09 withe the intention of resuming.I had a retest on 08/05/09 they came back the same.as 06/05/09. my gastro is stopping treatment-pey and ribitol and wants to monitor titers
I guess i am a rapid responder but should the treatment be ended ? I expected to do at least 12 weeks(24) and a 6 month followup..
the reason i started treatment was my biopsy shows 3-4 focal bridging fibrosis and stage.3-4 immflamation. I want to continue to treat but my Dr. says no. any info.? i have a great shot a svr but the odds are it will come back at some point. is there a minimun # of weeks per any studies. . no depression issuse are involved. thanks

Wait and see.  Most of the posters on this forum are geno 1's and a brief tx like yours would never work for us.  As a 3 you are much more responsive to the treatment and had a lower VL.  It is NOT impossible that you cleared and can stay clear with only 7 weeks of TX, just puts you in a rare situation.  Good for you.  You may end up to be a very lucky guy who has removed the virus completely from the body in a record short time.   Let your doctor take the lead.

The Virus usually comes back the first month after stopping treatment. So if I understood your post correctly you were still Virus free 6 weeks after stopping treatment. If this is the case you should be good to go. Just get a 3 month and 6 month post treatment PCR to be sure.

If you are saying that you stopped the treatment meds on 6/18 and had an undetectable pcr on 8/5 I'd suggest to listen to your doctor and don't do anymore - yet.  I'd wait another month or two, get another pcr then and make a plan.  It is possible that you could have achieved svr with that abbreviated treatment.  The definition of svr is no detectable virus after 24 weeks of treatment end.  But, if you are undetectable  3 months after stopping you should be pretty optimistic.
