Liver Bio? HELP!!

I have just been told I have HCV.  I have had a viral lode done and it is not good. My Dr. said I need to go to a liver Dr. and get a liver Bio? What all is involved with that? Painful? Also, is it better to get on the treatment drugs right away, or hold off till I might get sicker. Also, what about my pain level? Does it keep getting worse and if so, our most Dr's. good about pain meds. If so what is best to get prescibed for you.
As you can see I do not know much about all this but I am trusting God to see me through it.  Thanks, Babu 2

I just had my first liver biospy on the 10th. I was worried and scared.  I didnt have any pain before or after the biopsy.  I was very surprised. Im going tomorrow to get the results...Just relax and do the breathing that they instruct you to do and you will be fine...Its just a slight pinch.....

No worries on the biopsy.  I was scared to death before my first one and it was a breeze.  No actual pain.  A pinch and some pressure, but no pain for me.  Relax if you can.  God Bless.  Pattie

Don't worry about it too much,  I am the biggest wimp when it comes to pain, and was scared whitless before mine was done. I asked for and received a mild seditive and the procedure was over before I knew what was happening.  Just make sure you listen when they say to take it easy for a few days afterwards, The worst part of the whole thing was what I put myself through before hand.  Good luck

When you arrange your biopsy make a firm request that the proceedure be ultra sound guided.  That will greatly reduce the chance of complications or unnecessary pain.
