Best Fever reducer

I start my tx on Aug 1st, I will be on Telaprevir, Peginterferon, and Ribavirin. I understand the side effects that are common, I wanted to know what is the best fever reducer to take, Tylenol I know is hard on your liver, I was wondering if I should use something else for fever and pain.

The excitement/fear/anxiety building up to treatment is remarkable.  I am about to start week 3 of treatment. Get labs tomorrow.  High fat foods are a challenge.  Although not healthy, Paneras has the highest fat content in its cherry cheese pastry and their muffins are moist and full of fat without the icky fat feeling. I thought full fat milk and yogurt would be healthy and helpful but the nausea and the heaviness of these didn't go for me.  Tylenol was good for aches after injection for 24 hrs after.
Be brave girl and join the warriors.  This disease is ugly and we will beat it!
Stay strong
Will check on your progress

Congratulations on getting started on your tx.  I start on Aug 1st too.  Have you been on tx before.  I was a non responder back in 2009.  I hope things are different this time.  I did have fever and body aches.  But I was told to take Advil.  I know that others have said that Tylenol is better. You should ask your doctor if you end up needing anything.  Some people dont end up with side effects.  Everyone is different.  I had a lot of them.  But I am still willing to try this thing again.  Good luck to you.  I will be check to see your progress.

congrats on getting ready to start tx.  try not to get ahead of yourself.  not everyone gets all those side effects.  i've been fortunate so far.  i'm only on week 3 so i have a long road ahead.  but the most important thing for you is to drink tons of water.  my study nurse says it really helps.

good luck to you,

belle

Yes, James is right, I injected my first shot of Pegasys a month ago and no fever at all, in fact I hardly felt anything at all, and had ice cream and watched Planes, Trains and Automobiles and was too busy laughing and eating Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia to think about side effects. Get your favorite ice cream and movie and giggle through any side effect that may try to creep in.

Leading up to tx is a very stressfull time, try not to worry about things that may not happen.  You may not get a fever at all.

if you have minimal liver damage and no internal bleeding issues the recommended dose is fine - the more damage to the liver the less one should take - bleeding issues should be taken up with dr.

Congratulations, only a few more weeks to go before you begin.

I had a lot of fevers during tx and I was told to take Tylenol but NOT to exceed the recommended amount per day, it also helped with the aches/pains.

I however wasn't on Telaprevir so there might be something else you should take. I would put in on your "Questions to ask the doctor" list.
