Blown Away

Hey guys, thanks for the replys. I just came home from MD. He stated that that telapravir will be approved next year for sure but not for Geno 2's because we are supposedly so easy to treat. Tell that to a relapser. So unless I am able to pay for the meds I guess I am screwed, huh? He said that there are also meds that will be out in about 3-5 yrs. It seems like that he must of went to a seminar because he was much more informed than past visits. He said that I can either wait or try Infergen again. I am having blood work including genotype again to be sure they didn't type me incorrectly the first time. So I guess that's it. I will see what the labs show and maybe wait for awhile. Who knows..I am pretty disappointed. Guess that's life. If you are a relapser it shouldn't matter what genotype you are, should it?

Oh I had forgotten you were a 2 - I totally forgot that.  In the olden days what FLG said is right we've seen many people get to UND with old fasion SOC by doing as he said.  It might be a viable option for you since you know how bad the Infergen can be for some (like you).

I'm sorry Agatha I really am. It all stinks.

You might still have opportunity with Peg and Riba. It would take an aggressive liverhead that would be willing to give it a go with you. Together you could ponder more and early riba, double and/or more frequent Peg dosing, having a pre-emptive plan for anemia and rash while being willing to travel a rough road.  Having tried Infergen you know probably the roghest part of the road already.  The key is getting to UND early and maintaining that for a lot (36-40-48) weeks.  Many docs believe that a patient that can get to UND can get to SVR.

Telaprevir is designed and gets approved for Geno 1.
Any other use is "Off Label"

I am Geno4 and discussed Tela with my Hep as a back up plan
should I relapse.

Just curious how many billion kazillion $$$$$ they will be charging ????
