I do appreciate you both and your input.........
NYG,
I do know that you have much experience in this...But I'll have to disagree with the pessimism........If it in fact only took me 10 weeks to make UND <50,and I went anemic and was (Taken Off Riba) for 6 weeks while on EPO.....That was in Dec - Jan........March 5th I did my PCR and it came back No Hcv Rna detected...Now this is 3 months after being off Riba for a month and a half.........
I'd say that was a pretty good indicator that response to tx is doing excellent.....I have a killer metabolism and immune system...Especially at my age.....The Task of tx has been hard, but it's not stronger then the Power behind me......I'll be SVR, for the rest of my life By the Grace of God.
Good luck with it all. HCV and its treatment is nasty business.
I COMPLETELY understand what your saying....Somewhere you missed that I have mentioned this to my doctors several times about the gurgling they just give me a weird look........Samething,I had to get EPO shots and one infected and swelled up 11 cm's,and I told them it was infected...NO NO it's just celluitis (edema)......Funny........I went an poked a hole in it my self and STREPTOCOCCUS BETA pus came POURING out...all in all about a 1/3rd cup.............No it wasn't infected just like they said.......I almost lost my arm ,the swelling was at the stage it was beginning to cut off bloodflow..
So much for talking to my Doc's........I'm 29/48 of tx.....I was UND<50 at 10 weeks......My last PCR was 2 months ago and was NO HCV RNA DETECTED.....I seriously don't believe that stopping Riba for 7-10 days is going to affect my outcome......I've put my requests in....I'll go from there.....I in no way suggest to anyone to follow what I have done....
No I'm not a doctor,I'll listen to what you people have to say....I do believe that I need to continue with riba......But with this in mind, I'm not going to kill my other organs to potentially save one from a slow acting disease.....I don't smoke nor do I drink...I eat healthy.....And I have begun to workout again....
And I apologize if I sounded upset or unappreciative........600mg's Riba just kicked in...Thanks both of ya
I agree with FLGuy - it's time to talk to a doctor about this. You've probably hurt your chances at SVR drastically with all the self diagnosis as it is, it's time to talk to a good GI and see if it's something completely unrelated to the riba.
In looking at you recent posts, your gastronomic disturbances and 'liver' pain have been going on for quite some time - maybe months. You wrote that you were heading for the use of a colostomy bag and probably the matching shoes. As a result of all this you reduced riba, stopped riba, started riba and I think you are moderating the dose of riba all on your own. Throughout all this you imply that you haven't seen or consulted with a doctor about the bubbling, gurgling and liver swelling. Although you have left a message with someone in the office and hope that they will talk to the doctor. My point is that if you are geno 1 you have about 50/50 chance to get rid of this with the first go, and that assuming you follow treatment protocols. I can't imagine that you have enhanced your position with your self diagnosis and self medicationg. It might be time to force the issue, see a doctor, allow the doctor to diagnose the problem and make some recemmendations. Who knows, it could have been as simple as a diet changes, adding a supplement, otc med or other simple solution. Force the issue, see the doc. It doesn't make a lot of sense to go through 48 weeks of IFN and sometimes riba at that level of discomfort without getting some significant medical advice and intervention. One of the biggest mistakes we can make is to 'play doctor' beyond the age of 12.
wyn....It's just annoying....But when my liver ws swollen ,my liver didn'titself hurt but at one point I think my diaphram did..where the bigget part of your lobe is...I
FLguy.......I did quit the riba because of the bubbling an gurgling....I quit it because my liver was swollen and my body began to retaining water to the degree I was bloated for days ....And my stools were greasy.....Anyhow I attributed it to the riba so I quit it for about 7-10 days......Guess what...The bubbling and gurgling stopped ,the swelling went away....Having more regular stools.............Now I'm back on riba and guess what? the bubbling and gurgling is back....Go figure.......
I do have a request in to my Doc's both procedure team and my HepDoc.. to see a gastro.....All my labs are good....Down a little from last time...HCT is up to 39.2......Which is close to normal levels.....HGB 12.5,down a point...Which fantastic for TX.Neuts are down from 2.06 to 1.81...which is nothing to complain about......
From what you've previoulsy written, you were on reduced riba for a while and stopped riba for a couple of weeks entirely - due to that debilitating gurgling and bubbling. I think you are around week 30? Why not reduce or stop riba again, what harm can it do? What do doctors who prescribe this stuff know anyway?
Maybe you should try Protonix. My np prescribed it for me and it seems to have worked very well..
An old cowboy friend used to call that the "Revolving Farts".... maybe you're eating too MUCH fats?
And I was under the impression (in my case) that it was too much Ben and jerry's ice cream. *LOL*
Seriously, I've got that sensation again today, too. But I chalked it up to over-exertion. I guess everyone has completely different reactions to stuff.
I remember reading some posts about taking riba with meals, preferably with fat content. (see that - Ben and Jerry's has TONS of fat!)
Another theory bites the dust.
Hope you're feeling better.
BTW - is the feeling you get painful or just annoying?
