You need to do the treatment for 1a.
I was curious as to whether or not people could be infected with two genos concurrently, or if one could supersede the other. I found some articles that confirm that this is, in fact, possible. Once of which can be found here:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1773693/
Anything is possible, including an error in genotyping in the late 90s. But you may want to do your own research, in terms of a second infection of HCV.
I hope everything works out for you.
Sounds like there was a mistake made about your genotype back years ago. That said if at that time you did the standard 24 weeks of treatment and was a non-responder the out come would have been the same no matter your genotype and your next treatment should consider you a non responder.
You need to talk to your doctor about the right treatment for non-responders with these new meds that are on the market or in trials, which combo would be the best for you, maybe even a clinical trial. While 48 week treatments without interferon might be in your cards I haven't heard of anything past that time frame in years. Treatment times our being cut in at least half, much easier and in some cases interferon free. Wishing you the best.
sorry I made a mistake.. I was told in the late 90's I was a 2b.. not 92
