What's new with the PI's?

Hey y'all - Haven't been here in a few years, thought I would stop by and ask how the new meds are coming along in their trials?

The Lambda sounds great, I wish it was hitting the market the same time as the PIs.  Wishing doesn't make it so.  I'm afraid I'll have to suffer with the peg and the old riba along with the new PI.  It's like seeing something you want so bad but can't get.

Its nice to see experianced people back in the forum. It is also unfortunate that you are a non responder. I am in a study with Zymogenetics. They have created a new inteferon called Lambda (iL29) with fewer side effects. It seems to be working. I am at my 12th injection Monday and have had very few side effects.  I was talking with my study Dr last Monday and they indicated there would be 2 new study trials aimed only at non responder with the new PI's. One starting at the end of the year and shortly after the first of the year.  I will find out more and keep every one infomed.
On a side not is a Kia Soul a good vehicle and what would be a good price?  I am thinking about buying one today or tomorrow. How funny is that!

Beth,

Dr. John McHutchison
Duke Clinical Research Institute
2400 Pratt Street
Durham, NC, 27705
Phone Number:(919) 668-8700

You can probably get all the tvr results at vertex.com

When I asked my liverhead to name the top ones he mentioned his boss (another famous one) first and then McH.

glad to hear all is going well for you in NC - nice part of the world.

I'm svr but have lost track of the time, a couple or few years now.

Jim is not around anymore.  NYGirl (a Mon-Fri poster) will be excited to read you.  Goofy still stops by at odd times (what else would you expect).

Too bad Dr. Jenny could not pull it off for you.

OMG I had no idea I had a great liverhead here in NC. Do you know what his number is, such as Duke - One of the finest mediacl facilities in the world they saved my grand daughters life 5 years ago with a open heart procedure. Do you know how I can get an appointment?  I wonder if I need a referral. It's good to hear relapsers were included in the study, any data on it yet?.  The hep doc I got here said Vertex didn't want to do a trial in Asheville NC, which is where I live (well actually 20 minutes from Asheville) and Duke is 4 hours away (but hell I will travel 4 hours if I can get on a freebie trial) Vertex wanted to keep it in a teaching/research Hospital.  You got the trial links? I deleted all hep info from my server when I relapsed.  Went through a bad "mourning" period when the meds failed me - I was 100% compliant, never drank a drop of booze, no drugs, no smoking a poster child for what to do when you are on Interferon and it didn't work, got mad at fiorst then went through denial.  After a year of self pity I took hold of my life again and moved here, got a job and put in the back of my mind. I had another biopsy 3 months ago and it has progressed another stage so I need to start thinking serious about it again.  I am glad I came here again, I knew y'all would be a good source of updated info on trails and the new PI's.  Thank you!

On a personal note:

Bob worked for the Ontario Provincial Police, it's equivelant to our State coppers here.  He retired 2 years ago, we bought a house in NC, of which I live permanently.  He goes back and forth from Canada to here every other month. We kept the house on the water in Ontario and all his family lives there so he "commutes" LOL (most people think it is a very strange way for married folk to live but it works for us). He went through the immigration process and got his immigrant status so he can live and work here but he loves being retired.  He spends winters here and during the winter months he does volunteer work for the Sheriffs Department in the court house just to keep him busy, other than that he has a nice cushy life now, no more bad guys, no more living out of suit cases, no more getting up in the middle of the night cuz some nutbar decided to whack someone.  And I ork full time in the automotive industry in business development for KIA (internet sales) As far as my cats go (my babies) they have dual status as well LOL Right now they are with Bob but are coming for a month in Sept.  I almost lost my big guy Mister Miyagi over the winter, he has an enlarged heart and has some stomache issues but the vet gave him some meds and he seems to be hanging in there, so far so good.  I had them both tested for HCV, they are negative.  The Vet said cats can't get HCV, but I wanted to be sure.  You know how absolutely nutty I am hehe..  How are you doing, you still SVR?

The lead liverhead for the teleprivir trials is right there in NC.  It's John McHutchison at Duke.  And, they have included replaser G-1 in the phases.

I thought that Mr. Dip was like a Mountie or at least worked for the province.  Dis he retire to NC?  Did you bring the moose with you?  How about the cats?  Did you have to smuggle them across the borders?

Every case is different - I do not feel tip top 100%, but I maintain as normal a lifestyle as I can unr t conditions of the virus and the side effects of Interferon.

Hi - good to see you too - Yeah my treatment was a big flop.  I got real sick, both mentally and physically and I still have lasting sides.  Floaters in both eyes the size of Texas, fibro, viral load sky rocketed, extreme short term memory loss.  My DDD is out of control non stop UTI But, with all that going on I am able to hold a job working my butt off 52 hours a week.  I think the job is the one thing that keeps me going.  I cleared at week 18, they never did a 12 week PCR (hep nurse on mat leave) and I was so sick I never even thought to demand it to be done. The last 5 months of treatment were spent in bed.  My husband took a leave at work to take care of me.  I am hoping and praying the new drugs can beat my genotype.  My new hep doc says Teleprevir is not for the relapsers of genotype 1 but I basically ignore her.  LOL  You know me, think I know it all hehehe  Hope you are keeping well.

Hi there,
For those of us that are new, may I ask if you feel as crummy (not mentally, that is a given, I mean physically) when you relapsed as you did prior to starting tx?
Thanks and welcome,
Hugs,

howdeee *big hug* wow this place looks good, all new format eh!  Yeah, I live in NC now, but we still have the house in Ontario.  I couldn't find, or remember my old name so I had to create a new one.  What;s going on with the PI's?  They making progress at all, haven;t followed it for a few years?
