Question about Procrit

I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some info about Procrit follow up labs.  I've been taking it for two weeks now...feeling somewhat better.  When should I have a blood draw to check if the procrit is working or if my hgb is getting to high!  I'm a little scared of the black box warning for the porcrit and want to stay on top of it because my doctor doesn't seem to interested in my care!

thanks
darla

Congrats on only 3 more weeks to go, soon this will all be a distance memory for you. Yes it does take a few weeks for it to work. I was on it most of my treatment and my Doctor kept me on it a few weeks after tx. ended. My HGB stayed around 10 even with the procrit so i stayed on it passed tx. until it got to around 11.5 to 12.

Wishing you SVR and enjoy the rest of your summer.

I'm on the same dose as you...how long have you been on procrit? It does seem to pack quit a punch...hits me hard 2-3 days after the injection! I think I'll stay with taking it the day after interferon...thanks for the info!

I understand it takes from 2-6 weeks to start working ~  I  have only 3 more weeks of tx so by the time it starts working on me I won't be on the meds any longer.  I hope it all balances out in the end.  If  I was able to get some info from my dx I wouldn't be sweating it so much.  I found out recently she's only dx a few hepc patients and I don't think she stays on top of the tx.

best wishes to you!

Had blood drawn every couple of weeks while was on procrit, 40,000 units every week. Really don't think you have to worry about your HGB getting to high while on tx.

Heppo said i could take procrit on same day as shot but thought the day before would be better. And sx wise i think it was.

Best to you
