Curious before I call and scream at someone...

Okay...so I had a complete blood count done before treatment started, and I just now get a bill...
My insurance covered 200 of a 1,000 dollar bill.  I am no doctor, but for some reason I don't ever remember paying so much for bloodwork..am I getting taken for a ride?

Yeah from everything I gathered I'm supposed to have like 80% coverage...which seems that they took to cover 20% instead of 80%.  Since today I am feeling a bit better I am trying to get as much done as I can before I have to drag myself out of bed.
Once again I must say I am so greatful to have stumbled on this site, as I get so much hope and help from everyone on here..I think I would be going nuts without being able to read up on everyone else who is going through the same things as me.

i hate insurance companies... but ya bloodwork can be that expensive...BUT check everything OUT ... i have gotten plenty of bills from labs, dr offices, etc for covered expenses they automatically bill you if they dont get paid right away by insurace

chek your deductibles, limits etc and write a letter to the lab, the insurance co, etc DONT PAY IF ITS A COVERED EXPENSE

i got a $1500 bill for 3 months in a row from a breast dr's office last year when i was dx'd with dcis, i wrote a letter to the billing co, the dr's office, and my insurance company and told them you can send this a million times and IM NOT PAYING its a covered expense, never saw another bill again

Sounds like it. Call the insurance company, ask to speak to a supervisor, and ask what the problem is. Maybe your doc just didn't put in the right diagnosis code which can be fixed after the fact. If that draws a blank, call the lab and try and negotiate a better price. Tell them it's coming out of your own pocket and you want a discount. I ran into a situation like yours (fortunately it was resolved through other means) but at one point the lab told me they would give me a break on cost since it was coming out of my own pocket.

Depends on which labs were drawn.
Some tests are very expensive.
