I mentioned yesterday that i did my shot on friday and i still am not seeing no red blotch...like i always see,,,,ive done lots of these shots and ive never had this happen...like i said before...there seemed like more that usual dribble from the needle tip when i attache it to the redipen...im thinking the pen maybe malfunctoned ...my question is, should i do the extra shot  i have a back up... ,just to make sure im getting fridays shot...has this happened to anyone, and i wonder if i do a double shot will it hurt me in anyway.....this is bugging me

Never used a Redipen but isn't there a way to see if there's a lot of medicine left inside of the redipen? I don't think the "blotch" test is a good one as you've just started tx and sometimes the blotches stop. That said, if you've gotten a blotch every time last treatment as well it might also give me pause. Many here have done double-shots but sounds unlikely just based on the blotch idea. I've heard the Redipen is prone to dribble but again, never used it. Why don't you just get your Peg in a vial and use a syringe like a real man :)

How much dribbled out of the syringe? I use Pegasys, so I'm not familiar with the redipen.

If you seen dribble then its a safe bet the redi-pen worked and the meds went in. I used the redi-pen during my first tx and there was times i couldn't tell where i had given the shot and other times i would have a nice red spot... Just quit looking guy:)

When you attach the needle you are suppose to have some dribble, thats a sign you have done the prior steps correct. Just make sure you don't shake that thing, its not the same as....... well you know what i mean

I think you should trust the expert on this. I'm sure can-do has more experience than the NP about the redipen.

Anyway, you will soon feel whacked over the head and you'll know that stuff is working.

After opening redipen, sit in slot.Wash hands first.Slot.You know how to push till you hear that click.Dribble will come out because of air.Mine came with two alcohol swabs.Instructions states after applying needle, wipe off tip of redipen.
Put needle on till you hear another click. After click, screw needle on.Wait five seconds, pick up and turn up and down, twice, NOT shaking.
Alcohol swab area, remove tip off the needle.Pinch skin, insert needle, let skin go slowly, push meds in, slowly.
After your sure redipen is empty, let needle sit in skin for the count of ten to be sure.
Remove, done, discard in your box.Clean up your mess.Pat yourself on back.Mine dripped one drop last Friday. It's ok.I think with you feeling it you got your dosage...
Good Luck,
Tammy

Relax Dude. No offense but you seem way to obsessed with some things. I'm new to this and I already know that you don't get a red spot all the time. The first 5  shots I got from the trial nurse, 4 left red itchy marks about 4 days after shot, none the 5th shot.  You should practice what you preach, remember last week when I had an injection question and this was your helpful reply:

"For Gods sake...just ram the damn thing in..dont worry about the angle or pulling back for blood ...you are not going to hit any veins or arties....its just under the skin into fat"

are you still pulling back and checking for blood?

I use the RediPen, vary the site rotation and never show any signs of irritation.

At this point, I agree with copyman.
However, like you, I was worried about the RediPen, the dribble, and whether I am injecting to excess skin rather than fat. Since there was virtually no drop VL load at week 6, I began to wonder if I am doing the injection right in the first place.

The  laminated 3-part instructions that come with my pens has a picture for each step.
The directions state the dribble is normal and does not compromise the dose.
The picture on my directions has a larger overspill then I usually ever actually get.

The best assurance the RediPen works is examining the pen at each stage of the injection process: From when you remove it from cold storage (usually the fridge) and it warms a little right to disposal in the container that came with the pens (or your doctor's office)

See for yourself how the dose looks through the clear part before you inject.

Sometimes you will see a small amount of powder with the liquid part, but usually just the liquid part (i.e., the solution is already partly blended).

You still have to hold it upside down twice; either way, but you will see for yourself what the mixture looks like through the clear part before you inject.

Follow the rest of the steps and after you inject, look at the clear part again.
The difference is very noticeable.
There is no solution remaining in the pen.
I realize you know this part, but: rotate the dose all the way to the black line and inject until you hear the click

I rotate all the way to the 5 so I figure, you probably do as well.
There is not really much of a chance you did the shot wrong, but examining the RediPen at each stage is the best way to allay your concerns.

The redi-pen is not like the regular syringe, so you can't pull back to check for blood.

Wishing you the best and hope tx is treating you well.
