Dilated primary bile Duct

Hello All, I have Hep C for long time now. I have a hard to treat strand-1a. Tried TX, 2 Xs, and had to stop after 6-8 mo. I mentaly and phsyicaly could not go through with it. Long story short, I have primary bile duct dilalation. Anyone else have this?? I had a bunch of tests. No blockage or tumors, I have read that inflamation can cause this. Im cirrotic, It makes sence that may be the cause but dont know for sure. From my last MRI and US, it has doubled in size. Curious if any one has this or knows about it.

Thanks for any time you may give me.

I also  have Hep C, since 1976 transfusion. I have been somewhat Asymptomatic, although my last biopsy in 08, showed Hepatic Dysfunction 'possibly in keeping with Hep C" (that was the actual note on the results - geesh, not very specific). Three years ago, I began to drop weight - big time until 2 years ago I had dropped 50 lbs, wasting with absorption problems and Vitamin D malabsorption. I have now been told Vit D malabsorption is normal for Hep C patients. So we all need to take more and best in liquid form.  IN NOVEMBER 2013, I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH DILATED COMMON BILE DUCT NEAR THE PANCREAS.   Now, I wonder if it is connected to the former. I just underwent my MRCP this morning.  Unfortunately, in the city where I had that last biopsy, I was about to begin Peggasist, when we moved miles away, back to southern Ontario. Then I get a specialist who does not "believe" in giving the 'treatment' to  anyone with existing pain issues. I also have a bad back. So, after twice about to start treatment, bang, I was back at square one!  Anyhow, my only symptoms with the dilated duct, and I should not say only, are that my bowels did a 360 degree change, I am NOT jaundiced, I DO have sharp twinges in upper right lasting for seconds and mostly after I eat fat, THE MOST INTERESTING SYMPTOMS are:  My biological clock went into reverse, I am hungry therefore in middle of night, rather than day, and I pass out whenever I eat a heavy meal. Within minutes I simply, fall right off cold. I awaken minutes to half hour later - at any time of day or night and only when I eat. After 3 long years of, I am certain, people thinking I lost  my mind, I found a Harvard Medical Journal, which does (yahoo) list these as symptoms of a few things related.  I would be lying if I said I am not worried, as I am VERY concerned.  Having said that, ANY FEEDBACK would be terrific. I would rather know things, than no know them.  (I think). I am sorry for chewing your ears off.   Thank you all!

Hi! I have Hep c also and have just been told that my Bile duct is dilated. I don't have a gallbladder anymore and they did the scan to make sure a stone wasn't in the duct. No obstruction! They want to run more test and look for tumors. I am wandering, What is the point? I am so sick and tired of test after test and constantly hurting and being sick. I am also wandering is this just part of the hep c journey? Have you learned anything new?

Hi there, welcome to the forum. I do not know much about the primary bile duct dilation but the there are folks in the forum who are knowledgeable about cirrhosis  and related conditions and hopefully someone can share a few thoughts. Good luck to you.
