international travel

i need to carry 13 pegasys  syringe filled injections and ribavarin into the united arab emirates from india. Does anyone have any experience in this sector or for that matter any international sector? Airline advises me to carry the pegasys in thermocol packs with ice pack and in checked in baggage. All your views would be appreciated. I will carry dr prescription along

Are you planning to be gone for 12 weeks?  That seems like a very long time to be away from bloodwork monitoring.  Can you line that up where you are going?

Ditto above. I went to Japan last year and carried on my meds with no problems.

I agree with the above.  Use an insulated case with frozen ice packs.  They will stay cold down in baggage but I would worry too much about them being broken and I felt compelled to hand carry them.  I'd carry the riba too.  They will look at them but usually won't be too interested in touching them.

I did a lot of international travel during tx, carrying ribavarin, peginteron pens, Procrit and syringes.  I carried the injectables in an insulated thermocool bag with ice packs.  I always carried my meds on, would not dare place them in checked bags both because of the risk of losing them and the risk of breakage.  At security I would advise what I was carrying and ask that the bag be examined by hand.  I travelled in Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean without incident.  I carried a copy of my prescriptions but was never asked for it.

And also the rooms in the plane where the checked in baggage is have very low pressure, so you'll risk they all crack. I once packed my camera in the wrong suitcase and everything inside of the camera was crushed to pieces.

I would never check medication of any sort. It's much too easy to have it go one way when you're going the other.
