Hi. I've gone through so many treatments I lost count. I did every single thing that came along starting with Intron A before ribavirin was available and ending with Peg, Riba and thymosin in 2005. I'm with you about going through anything to get rid of this darn virus.I'm scared to death as I ended up with a zero ANC count and landed myself in the hospital on and off all summer the last time I tried anything. But I'm going to do it again. Good luck to you and I hope we both beat it this time.
I dont know Susie, if you underwent treatment ever, but I did, and I had a very bad rash from Ribavirin. Lucky for me , I had a good dermatologist, who gave me some good cream , not corticosteroid. Probably situation is even worse with protease inhibitor, but I would do everything, and go through it many times, just to get rid of those.......I dont know how to call them!
I've been thinking the same way as you but I am starting to change my mind a little bit. If a treatment naive person has a rvr the chances of SVR are very very high. I know there is always the exception to that rule, but not having to add the protease inhibitor may be a blessing in disguise. Who wants extra anemia or a terrible itchy rash if they can get away without it? I don't know, I guess I can maybe see a good side to this if it happens for treatment naives.
yeah, I think you.re wright. You could see, that it would be a kind of a race, but we will see, as you said!
That would totally suck if they did that but it's been bantered around here for quite a while that due to the cost they might maketx naives try SOC only first.
We will have to wait and see what actually goes on with insurance and patient assistance etc. for real.
