lindak's thread

Hey guys I'm not asking about myself cause you guys have all helped me out abunch, but my question is after reading all that stuff related to lindak and comments from DD, how can anyone who is concerned about HCV know that they dont have it??

I have tested negative a bunch of times and everybody says that I should forget it (hcv), but how can you forget it when you read that kind of stuff.  Maybe I dont understand it.  what do you guys think??

Thanks - that stuff I'm reading is just really scary!!!! I have some weird symptoms (dry eyes, dry mouth, faint ruq pain) but I have tested negative (6 elisa tests, 2 RIBA test & 1 HCV RNA qualitative) out to 2 years after my exposure!!!

I am not going to blow your comments off as quickly.  I understand your fears and reasons for concern, so let's look at the logic and facts.  Of course you already know that I suspect a form of 'occult' transmission might occur in some people, but that may not be true at all.  Only time will tell.  In YOUR case, when did you suspect that you had a problem?  After you found out your partner had HCV, or before you were informed?  When did your symptoms begin, and how did you determine that they were new symptoms? What exactly ARE your symptoms, and how did they begin?  Did you have a possible 'anxiety' reaction to finding that your partner had the virus?

I think exploring these questions will lead you to either a conclusion that you really are not infected in any way, OR to a conclusion that you might want to keep an eye on future research to see if there is anything to the possibility of compartmentalized infection, or cellular reactions to contact with the virus, etc.

What are your liver enzyme readings?  Have you had an HCV PCR test, in addition to the antibody tests?  Take this whole thing calmly, and step by step, to really determine, IN YOUR OWN MIND, if there is any cause to worry.  Answering the above questions clearly and accurately, (and honestly) should provide you with some conclusions.

Even though you think you may be a 'basket case', I do understand your alarmed reaction, and anxiety, especially in light of your perceived symptoms.  Sort through all of it, and find some answers...even if they are not 'rock solid' answers.
Relax a little as well.  You have much less cause for alarm than most other people on the forum, and probably quite a few other people out there in the world, as well!
