Eltrombopag

Sorry, I spelled it incorrectly the first time it is eltrombopag (sorry T).  Apparently this is an approved drug in the U.S.  What I want to know is has anyone who has undergone the TX had to take this medication, eltrombopag prior to treating?  And was it effective? Any info here would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi,  I am the other one taking it. My platelets went from 19,000 to 101,000 in a little over 2 weeks.  I was stopped on treatment.  Started tx at 30,000 dropped to 19,000 by 3rd shot.  Starting to wonder if the nurse had that right or not.  After all I've read I wouldn't have thought they would have started me on tx with them that low.never have gotten blood work to back that up.  She has given everything else.  Who known's.  Have to look forward not behind.

I Have the go ahead to restart from the Hematologist.  Waiting to see if Hep Dr need any other blood work If not I will take my shot tonight.  I take 50mg of Promact daily.  Everything I've heard this is pretty new to the hep c tx.  Have you start tx yet?  Only sx that really bothers me is the headaches.  Good Luck

Hello.  I am taking it now (I'm the one on the study). My platelets went up again so I am assuming I am on the real drug and not the placebo.  Anyway it is quite the miracle drug for me.  My platelets went from 21000 to 159000 in 2 weeks.  Week 2 of the study I started treatment.  Just did my 2nd shot on Wednesday and I am taking the Eltrombopag/Promacta daily.  After a week of treatment my platelets went from 159000 to 160000 so good news for me.  Have you started or will you be getting it a go?  I had a bit of nausea with the Eltrombopag when I took it in the morning.  Started taking it before bed and have had no problems whatsoever just platelets rising.

To my knowledge, there are two members in Medhelp that are currently using this drug. One is taking it as part of a trial for ITP and HCV, and the other is using it to boost platelets as part of their HCV treatment. Hopefully, they will see your post and reply.

In the future, it seems to work better if you reply to your own post by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking on the green “post comment” button; this will keep everything together and easy to reply to.

Best to you—
