Thanks. My pcp is sending me to a rheumatologist i guess for arthrititis and chronic tiredness and that was in the summary of the blood tests. I just didn't know what it meant. It didn't say what kind of hepatitis. I had never been diagnosed for hepatitis for so I guess that means I don't have it.
This pertains to hepatitis C only - I do not know about hepatitis B
No such thing as negative chronic ACTIVE hepatitis. If you were chronic and treated and are now cured, or SVR, a HCV RNA PCR will indicate you are negative for the virus. In other words, the virus is no longer active. Undetectable virus in the blood. Treatment was a success. You will probably test postive for antibodies the rest of your life, but no ACTIVE virus. If you have not treated, but tested postive for the antibodies only but no quantatative virus in your blood by HCV RNA PCR that means you cleared the virus on your own - your immune system fought it off - negative virus in the body but again you will always test positive for the antibodies only. If that was the case, you never made it to the chronic stage. Your body fought it off while you were in the acute stage.
Hope that helps.
