Eye problems

Hi all !!!!!!
It's been a long time since I posted maybe some of you will remember me, for those that don't I'm female,43 years old was dx.in Sept.2003...viral load little over 4 millon, genotype 1 stage 4 on liver biospy with no cirrhosis.

I had to have gallbladder removed in Nov.2003 and then neck fusion surgery in March 2004 so I didn't get to start tx till June 2004.I'm on shot 33\48. The sx have been very hard on me. An ekg and stress test in Dec. came back with a positive blockage of the heart. So I had to have a heart cath. Thought I would not be able to finish tx. Everything was ok though the Doc said no blockage the other test were false positives thank goodness.

Well now I have a new problem, my eyes have been bothering me since last friday so I finally went to see my ophthalmologist wed. he had me come back yesterday and ran more test, and was going to talk to my GI Doc .Said it was optic neuritis, caused from the iterferion,I just got a phone call from eye center they have set me up for an MRI on monday.

I'm sorry this is so long but I'm upset I only have 3 months left and I was clear at week 12& 24, I've been through so much, does anyone know if they will have to stop my tx?

Thank you in advance for any responces.
Debra

i was pulled off therapy march 10, 2010 at week 57, i have 1a and severe cirrhosis. I was clear for months but in Feb. the virus started showing up again. I was pulled off tx because i developed a spot in my right eye. My sight is a lot worse than it was before. The spot is still there, and they say the mild swelling behind my eye is gone, but the spot still remains. Vision changes! I could read up close before and now it all becomes distorted, and it seems like i can see better if the book is further away????? Before i couldn't see further away????? doesn't make any sense to me. i am experiencing leg pain too, plus the itchy skin is back!!!!! UGH* my doc is hoping i make it to a new tx. if not.....transplant. i have an appt. in june so we'll see. I have also noticed some swelling in my abdomen, and pain on my right side and middle of my belly.

Thank you for remembering me. Yes, I stopped tx due to a retinal vascular occlusion. 3 month later it was repaired, but I have to say, I don't think my vision is what it used to be. The retina specialist and my  eye dr. are telling me that everything is back to normal. I opted out of a transjugular biopsy, due to low platelets. I'll keep you posted after I see my gastro. on March 22 after a full liver panel, viral load, endoscopy, etc, so we can compare it to the one a year ago. This forum is still a source of great info and inspiration and I check it regularly. I feel good, but I know the virus is at work 24/7.

I don't recall anyone stopping tx due to eye problems. They just saw the eye doc and had any problems taken care of.

My vision got real bad during tx but has returned to normal 7 months post.

I had eye problems to but not the one you mentioned. Only your docs can tell you how serious this could be for you. I have read there can be serious eye problems from tx. My experience was blurred vision and infections. One morning I woke up with bood in my eye which really scared me. Turns out is was my riba rash got in my eye and I had one of those blister which I rubbed and it split open. My doc gave me antibiotic drops that I used whenever I had these problems. The vision stayed blurry for about 4 months after tx. Sorry to hear about your problem. I hope it gets resolves and is not to serious. LL

I am sorry to hear of your difficulties. I am only in week 6 and already noticing vision problems. Bright lights hurt and focusing is getting harder. Before treatment I could read for hours, not anymore. I get headaches and a strong feeling of needing to close my eyes as they feel tired and gritty. Please let us know how you make out, I'm very interested to hear what your doc has to say. Good luck and may God bless.

Sorry to hear about your eye problems.  I hope all works out well for you and let us know what happens.

I just went for my eye exam and I have to return to see a specialist 3/1.  It seems I have a spot on my retina, he says it is not like the floater I have had for years, perhaps an "old infarct" or a "fungus".  I sure wish he could have been more definitive.  He thinks it can probably be taken care of by laser tx and doesn't think it is caused by the hepc meds--I disagree on that.  I haven't heard of anyone else having eye problems except vision changes that worsen and improve.  It seems my right eye has accommodated for the left and actually improved.

I'm interested in your symptoms.. I'm on week 18, and I have noticed that my vision is going down hill. I can not focus on things far away, and my vision prior was 20/20..
Hope everything else is going good.

I'm so sorry.  I just finished 24 weeks of combo therapy & I'm having vision issues as well.  I have an appointment with a corneal specialist next week & I'm hoping it's nothing irreversible.  I'll cross my fingers for you & hope that you're able to continue!
