FYI - For those with the thyroid problem (Synthroid)

My doctor never let me know that you have to take the synthroid with WATER only. I've been taking it for years with a cup of tea (with milk) every morning.

I just found out NOW that anything with calcium or vitamin D can cause it to be less effective.

Apparently, it's on big letter on the sheet that they put with the med but I never read that...I stupidly just read the bottle and took the darn pills.

Just in case someone else is making the same mistake.

Hum… my prescription bottle had labels attached to the side of it and said, “Take on an empty stomach” and the other label said, “Medication should be taken with plenty of water”. I am surprised that all pharmacies don’t supply this type of service so that if someone should forget to read the pamphlet supplied and the effects of the drugs being taken, that they will see the added labels. As with all drugs, the pamphlets should be read to see if any interaction of other drugs might cause a severe reaction with other medication, not to say synthroid would but with the meds everyone is taking during treatment it would almost be foolish not to.

Hey NY,

I've been on Synthroid for years and I was always told to make sure to take it at least 1/2 hour prior to or several hours after eating.
