First Shot Friday- sore eyeballs?

I took my first shot of Pegasys on Friday, and had some pretty severe flu like symptoms, but those are almost gone now.
However, my eyeballs hurt soooo badly, and I have a constant headache, that just won't go away.

Anyone else have sx of sore eyeballs, and what to do about it?

Yes, I do live in a beautiful place.  I am blessed. Mountains and the ocean in my backyard.

No, the drug is not Infliximab, although I have heard good things about Infliximab.

This one is a Cyclophilin inhibitor.  Hopefully as promising as some of the other drugs coming through.

You live in a pretty place.  Is that Infliximab?

The intent of the study drug is in addition to Riba & PEG, to see if you are UND or close to UND after 8 weeks of pre-medicating, prior to beginning the SOC, and if you sustain UND after stopping study drug, and continuing on with SOC.

To see, I guess, if pre-medicating will heighten chance of SVR for geno 1 patients.

I'm in Vancouver, Canada.

What's the intent of the study drug and where in Canada are you?

Could be the study drug, but this didn't start until I started the SOC, so I just assumed it was the Peg or Riba.

I added your name to the last post-but it was missed - wierd. Was wanting to thank you too, I really do appreciate it.  I'll take all the advice I can get.

Where are you at with tx?  Any other little tidbits that you wouldn't mind sharing with me?

LOL
Well, atleast I know what I have to look forward to.  With all of the sx's that I've heard about on this forum, I suppose I should consider myself lucky it's only my eyeballs and the headache!

How many weeks are you in for?  By the way, for the headaches I alternated tylenol and aspirin.  Probably more aspirin than tylenol, thinking it was 'simpler'.  It was pretty effective for headaches, but need to watch out for stomach upset, especially if lack of appetite leaves your stomach emptier than usual.

Thanks for all of the tips!  I really appreciate it.  I'm in for 56 weeks.  I'm doing a trial to see if it helps to pre-medicate, so will do 8 weeks of that, and then the full 48 (Im a 1A).

I will try the aspirin, right about now I'll try anything.  I did take a Tylenol P.M. on Friday nite at about 10, and slept like the dead that night.  Then insomnia on Saturday & Sunday nites.  Quite a mess in my sleeping pattern - hoping to sleep tonite.

I'm hoping that number 2 will be no worse than the first shot - it is manageable, just uncomfortable.  I will keep you posted.

Thanks again for your replies!

Thank you sooo much for posting. It's nice to know that someone understands what I'm feeling and it's not just me.

"feels like pressure in the back and it hurts to look all around" is exactly what I feel.

I will look for the other post.

Did you find anything to releive the pain?

Thanks again!

What are you doing in the first 8 that you won't do in the next 48?  You are apparently using Peg, riba too?  Or are you just determining if you respond in the first 8 to decide to go for the whole enchilada?

I have pre-medicated with a phase 2 drug (in Canada) and am now in for the "whole enchilada".

I am in a study for the first 8 weeks of treatment, then will do the soc - 48 weeks, irregardless of my vl at 8 weeks.

Would be interesting to know if I am undetectable earlier, but will never know (blinded study)so must do full 48 weeks.  I'm happy about that anyways - would rather do an extra 8 weeks and have SVR than to do only an extra 40 and always wonder.

So it could have been the study medication that gave you the eye ache?

The good news is that I had only one headache on tx.  The bad news is that it lasted 7 months.

I too experienced the worse sides on my first shot.  Now I have learned that I do my shot when I first get home on Friday.  Wait about 4 hours and take a extra Strength Tylenol and a Tylenol PM.  Sleep like a baby and wake up feeling pretty good.  Drink Lots of water. Not I drink about 11 to 12 glasses of water at work.  Occasionally I allow my self a coke at night. Some frown on that but it seems okay to me.

I have noticed that my lips and skin are so dry.  I keep putting on lotion and gloss but it only makes a small dent in it but I have to keep it up.  GOod luck this friday.  Let me know how it goes.  Thats my night too.

I hope you are feeling well except for your eyes being sore. Do you work on a computer screen? Maybe you are straining your eyes a bit. I use a moisturizing eye liquid twice a day because I hate how dry my eyes feel in the morning and at night after washing my face. There are many brands you can get, but make sure you get something without red eye reliever in it. I hope you

Probably you are dehydrated and your eyes hurt from that.  Other than that I can't think of anything that could possibly hurt your eyeballs and never heard of such a thing.

Try drinking more fluids and using an eye wash like saline maybe.
