Upper Right Quadrant stretching / pressure

i'm 4 months post tx.  tx for 24 weeks, genotype 3a.
UND at wk 4, 7 and 13.

i developed an intermittent stretching feeling ion my URQ, in the last month of tx.  it would be worse on getting up in the morning, and would disappear during the day.

it felt as if something was pushing from the inside, outwards. when i twisted my body, the pressure would greatly increase, feeling very uncomfortable.  it wasnt painful, just weird and mechanical. almost itchy.

aobut 3 weeks post tx, i ate my first tylanol in 7 months.  it caused massive pressure in the same region within  2 hours of taking it.

i got it post tx.  but didnt have it for amonth now.

now i got it again today.  i'm 4 months post tx now.

3 months ALT 25, AST 18. no PCR yet.

Your numbers are almost identical to mine which is proof beyond any doubt that you are cured. Lots of people here have reported similar symptons to what you describe, but it never appears to be related to relapse, or anything else measurable for that matter. BTW a recent study suggests that the 3-month post treatment PCR correlates
0NE HUNDRED PER CENT with the 6-month post treatment PCR in those who do not have cirrhosis. So why be anxious and wait?

All the best,

Hey we haven't had a good poop post in a long long time..........it was overdue.

Niceguy - I'd say that has more to do with it than anything.  Your numbers are AWESOME - you've made it.  It's time to be happy now and breathe the air of the cured.  :)

They say soy milk enemas are supposed to be good. Maybe you could 'give it a go' and report back to the class?

i avoid tylenol altogether.  advil may be ok but i avoid that too.  one is bad for the liver , the other bad for the kidneys.   so far i havent requried heavy pain meds but the drs. will have to give me something withoug tylenol or aspirin should i ever get in a bind.   tylenol causes my liver to feel bad.  i am post tx. 3 years cured in '03 geno 2b.

"the URQ sensation goes away during the daytime, so it may be related to the morning bowel movement.  in fact i've felt that going to the loo eases it somewhat.   "

We have these chewables called Benefiber...

Uhm... I was doing little uncomfortable balls on TX --- I learned to love Benefiber.

And now if I don't keep regulated - I feel very very very uncomfortable - especially if I get gassy.

LOL!

What a lovely conversation --- so glad you feel better after the loo...

Clean your colon out - and see if that makes it go away --- could be backing up or very filled - and pushing up against everything...

Just my thoughts on it.

LOL - and Goofy's too --- he's a smooth mover - that one.

im 8 mths post and have felt an almost kind of a tingely  constriction in the upq area ,  but ive been feeling it on and off since my 30th week of tx , i was thinking it might be my liver getting back to regular shape after having stage 2 inflamation......i wish i knew what it was too

I wouldn't attribute every ping and pang to the liver. It's tempting to do so, since that's such a focal point for us. I had discomfort in that area, and a colonoscope (?? maybe wrong word - camera up the poop-chute) found mild diverticulitis. As instructed - I've avoided constipation, seeds, and popcorn and things have been much improved. So - not that my experience is yours - but it could certainly be a GI disruption from the drugs. Maybe try eating extra fiber  and taking probiotics? That could help.

Good luck.

Yours in smooth movements,
Goof

the URQ sensation goes away during the daytime, so it may be related to the morning bowel movement.  in fact i've felt that going to the loo eases it somewhat.

i did not have this pre tx.  pre tx i had pretty severe acute pain jabs in the URQ, but not this peculiar sensation i have now.

my sensation actually built up in the last month of tx.  so much of it is interferon related.  i suppose the interferon also taxed the liver somewhat, so the same sensation was maginfied greatly, and acutely, when i took a tylenol 3 weeks after ending tx.

goofydad,

actually i had minimal liver damage, or so my doctors thought.  no biopsy, but platelets were in the 300s pre tx with only 4 years of infection.

they estimated i was probably fibrosis 1 inflammation 2.

As I recall, like me you have some rather significant damage going on? I've had that same sensation - before and after tx. It's relaxed quite a bit now. THis is a little gross, but one thing I've noticed is that it usually coinsides with a pending bowel movement. I think the liver area is a bit sensitiv, and then when it gets pushed on by poo backed up in the pipes.... that's when you feel it. The liver healing after SVR will be a long and slow process. Try to relax.

Hi there nice guy
I also have URQ pain. It's weird, not acute but it feels like pressure from the inside the same way you describe. It bothers me after sitting for a while in my PC. I'm 2B and I finished my TX 8 weeks ago. I was UND, 2, 4, 16, & EOT and I got a PCR 1 week ago. Still waiting for the results. :-(
My ALT 46 / AST 29 steady since EOT (i've got 2 hemograms done). I suppose the ALT is a tad high cause of my fatty liver. I was F3 according to the fibroscan.
Other than the URQ pain I feel perfectly okey. I wish that would also go away.
I keep telling the doctors and he says that I'm paranoid, that the liver does not hurt (the same song again) and that I should go out and enjoy life...
But there sevral people that have experienced it here, so I wonder, what's wrong with this picture?

saludos

I have that stretching/pressure sensation exactly same spot as you described a week before my treatment, and now it seems came and go sometimes weekly. It is very uncomfortable..... At first I thought may be it is from the way I sit at computer at work, I tried to adjust my chair .. ..everything to make it comfortable, but  it doesn't help. Sometimes it just happened when I sat on the sofar watching tv.  I tried to move my neck to left, right  to adjust to the level of the pain.  I feel like the nerve twisted inside or something.  I went for a a upper back message therapy, but it came back again.  Let me know if you can find any relief, I'll be glad to try.

when i remember my pre tx symptoms i feel convinced there virus is gone.

pre tx i had massive fatigue, and a real lack of motivation to do anything.  just getting up and going to work in the morning would be a chore.

i wud get wierd diarrhea for no reason.  i couldnt stand exposure to heat or cold.

i feel so different now post tx.  i feel like i'm 20 again.

i'm gonna get a PCR at 6 months.

this stretching/pressure thing developed in the last month of tx, like i said.  it went on and off...but havnt had it in more than a month now.

suddenly, whem i'm 4 months post tx, it comes up one fine morning.  it feels as if some FIST or knuckle is kneading you from the inside, out.

With those ALT numbers relax. If you relapse they will go up. Their in the damn good range at the moment.
