Generic Harvoni in India

Hi Everybody ! I need help to get any related information about generic version harvoni and sovaldi. I have found today the pre-order offer for generic harvoni from India. I have been informed from indian newspapers that generic version become available soon within 2-3 months on Indian market . Does anyone know something else about this? Any ideas? My Mom is suffering from fibrosis stage 3 , and now i'm feel that here is only one way to cure hepatitis C using the harvoni. But our insurance would not cover branded version!!! Does anyone waiting the generic version like me?

And finally, it will be accessible for patients from abroad?

Any recommendations, please .

Thanks and regards,

Alex

Hi patra_

Yes, these are very good news. I hope Zydus can start selling "SoviHep" and Natco its "Hepcinat"  at affordable prices not so much over US$300 that will be available on India, to all the other countries in the world. And to see a way to avoid the limitation of the 91 country list or get the medicine in a near country in any case.

I am also looking for generic Harvoni to be launched on India, but it seems nobody yet has found news about the launch of generic Harvoni in India.

I guess guys living on India on this post, maybe can provide more info related to probable month that the generic harvoni could be launched on India by some of these Labs.

I guess a lot of us are after the news of the generic Harvoni for treating the genotype one avoiding the (int+riba)

Thanks

Hello Erickb , and hope that you are well .
I have been following Harvoni for a long time here in New Delhi , India , i have spoken to the companies ( cipla , natco , mylan , zydus cadila and ranbaxy )
natco and zydus have already launched "Sofosbuvir / Sovaldi "  in India and you can get them with a prescription .
Mylan will be the official distributor for the sofosbuvir and will be IMPORTING the sofosbuvir directly from gilead and selling it here in the 1st week of May .
the other companies are still working on the sofosbuvir .

As for Harvoni , they are saying that it will come to India but there 1st priority was Sofosbuvir as India has a bigger population with genotype 2 and 3 and they wanted to get the sofosbuvir out for that .
Also the fact that Sofos , since an older release than ledipasvir , has already gotten all the clearances required in India .
Harvoni should be available "I think " by early 2016 in india ..
I hope this helps .
My best wishes to all .

Hi Petrecm , im really not sure on that front , i think things may be a bit strict in the beginning ( for nest 2-3 months ) but knowing India , after a few months and launches of sofos by other companies , there will be a way for everyone to get them ..

I will try to find out more in the second week of april when i go to my liver hospital for my routine checkup ..

best wishes and warm regards

New Delhi/Geneva, 18 March 2015 - Ahead of a meeting in Jaipur, India next week between US pharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences and several Indian companies which have entered into an agreement with Gilead to produce hepatitis C drugs, Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) urged the generic companies to reject a highly-controversial programme that could compromise people’s treatment and confidentiality.

The programme - which places multiple restrictions and demands on people receiving treatment - is designed solely to protect Gilead’s commercial interests, and is unprecedented as far as MSF is aware.

Dear Pacman:

Thanks for your quick reply regarding Harvoni. and all the information provided. It is good to know that you are in India and got in touch with all these laboratories that will be producing the generics

In Peru the prevalent  genotype is 1, so generic Harvoni will be great for treating me and others patients here.

It seems Social Security in my country for the moment is only providing (Int+riv+simeprevir) for all patients as I have spoken with my doctor one month ago. and yet one has to wait to get those medicines, cost they cost a lot of money.

But it will be great in any case to be treated with "Hepcinat" or "Sovihep" instead of simeprevir in that combo. and the budget will be less than si

I have seen that Peru is not in the list of 91 countries allowed by Gilead, so I believe there can be restriccions to get this genetic medicine by Customs, but I guess that in near country as Bolivia, the product can be imported with no issue.

One question. If I get my doctor prescription here in Peru, that will allow me to purchase the generic sovaldi on India and how do you think I can avoid restriccions with frontiers due to Gilead list?

Some of this exporter told me that I can go with prescription and clearance my custom here. But I dont trust if that it is true or not, cause I guess Gilead maybe already has established that restriccion for exporting the generic product on India. Nevertheless I have seen that these exporter are offering to send medicine to countries that are not in the list of Gilead.

Maybe can you let me know some trusted sources that can export the medicine and what are the secured shipping that you mentioned before.

It is good to know that generic Harvoni will be also available on India, but 2016 maybe is too much time to wait and I guess that the best option maybe can be to use the present generic that has been launched, even if has to be used with Interferon and Riva. The only issue here the side effects of those drugs compared to generic Harvoni

Thanks for all the info. If you know more about generic Harvoni date launch, please let us know
