Got my 4 week viral load test back. From 8 million to 240 thousand is this good?

Hey guys genotype 1a here. Started treatment with 8 million as viral load and after 4 weeks of tx its down to 240,000 viral load.

Is this good? Is this RVR? Rapid Viral Response?

Please let me know if this is good and if I have a good chance of going UND at week 12. Cause I've read that these numbers after week 4 are the hardest to get rid off.

Thanks for everything.

¡Hola, yoyoma!

You have a 1.52 log reduction in viral load. This is modest; not bad, but not terribly good either; about average.

RVR occurs when the viral load is undetectable at four weeks; difficult to achieve in genotype 1 patients, I’m afraid.

Keep up the battle, my friend; be sure to tell us what the 12 week numbers look like—

You are responding to the interferon which is good.  That is a 1.52 log drop in 4 weeks.

It is not an RVR.  RVR would be UND at 4 weeks.  In my opinion, your chances of UND at 12 wks are as good as any geno1.

Good Luck

Just got 4 week loads. Went from 4.6million to 26,000. I started victrelis after my last test so I am hopeful in 4 weeks I will be clear and looking at 28 weeks and not 48 weeks.

Hi Melvyn..Always best to start a new thread by going to the "orange" (I thought it was green before??  maybe not.. )   "post a question "   area at the top of the page. That way more people will see it rather than tagging on to an old thread.

Good news on your 4 Wk. viral load and  best of luck  on the 8 week test.

Hope the Vic is not beating you up too bad and welcome to the group..

Thanks Will. Appreciate the suggestions. The Vic is not as bad as I feared. Main side is lower hgb levels to around 10.5 from 13 pre tx. I get my 8 week test in early Jan. so I am hopeful for Und.
