Hair Loss During HepC Treatment

Will my hair come back after interferon/ribavirin therapy?  How long will it take?

My hair always comes back and looks thicker when it does. I will tell you when I did the infergen I lost my pubic hair and it did not grow back. I figure I don't need it some woman pay $100.00 for that look lol

Yes, it will come back.  You should notice a difference within the first few months off treatment.  Hair grows at about 1/2" a month so give it time...

I think it's all variable on the timing, but it does come back.  Oddly, I didn't REALLY start to lose massive amounts of hair until right after I finished treating.  I guess I was probably losing some before without noticing so much as I have huge amounts of hair.  But after I finished (I only treated between 5 and 6 months) I lost about 2/3 of my hair.  I lost hair up to a month or more after I finished treating.  It took maybe a year to get it all back again.  It took the longest to get my eyelashes back.

Sorry took so long to answer, I'm on triple therapy now for 7weeks and haven't lost any hair. But in 2007 I treated for almost two years and lost a lot of hair, not bald but very thin, good thing I had a lot. It all came back right away and is now just as thick as before. One thing it did was straight my hair all over my body, that's weird you know that a powerful drug to straighten hair. But it's back to curly again. Good luck. Joe
