HCV from razor - wried incident

Can you guys help me in this situation please . I am from Bangladesh

I am bachelor , staying alone at a house . There are two maids who visit my house for cooking and cleaning. yesterday after shaving while keeping the razor back in the box at the bathroom , I found a small stain of blood near the shaving box ( Which i did not notice previously or 2 days back while shaving ).

There are no other things sharp in the bathroom.I know in US or developed country everybody is educated so they dont share razors but here in  my country sharing razors in barbershops and such activites used to happen.

My worries are that my maid may have reused the razor and might have blended. and i used  the razor again the next day morning. There was minimum 15 hours gap between maid visiting my place and my shaving incident.

After this incident i checked myslef , i had a small cut due to use of razor (very small cut)

Can hcv be transmitted this way ?

Should i need testing ?

I am sure that the blood stain was not due to me and i am worried of this accident very much  .

Please advise me regarding this

OH and be careful of people using kitchen knives, cutting themselves, not cleaning up properly then putting them back too.  Gee all the things we have to think of.

well at least you know your maids are clean shaven. one thing i hate is a hairy maid :)

It seems pretty unlikely. In the first place, what are the odds that the razor-borrowing maid actually had hep c in the first place? Multiply that by the chances that the virus survived on the razor blade for the period of time, and by the chances that you nicked yourself sufficiently, and with the right spot on the razor blade. Seems like a pretty slim chance that you have it. Your chances of getting struck by lightning on your way to get tested might be comparable. :-)

Here's a preventative solution. Keep your razor in a glass with alcohol or bleach. You'll know your razor is clean whether or not the maid borrows it. If she borrows it and doesn't put it back, you'll know this also.

Besides, you don't know if the blood was from the maid or if she even has hepc.  You really don't know for sure where the blood came from.  Just because you didn't notice it previously doesn't mean it wasn't there from nicking yourself shaving.  Agree with Bill, I wouldn't worry about it.

The incident you describe carries a very slight risk; I don’t know how to quantify exactly, but suspect it is less than 2%; and that is only if the maid was known to be infected with HCV. If you have concerns, discuss the risk with your doctor; he/she will advise you and order HCV antibody tests if they feel they are warranted.

Personal health items like razors and clippers are shared here in the U.S. occasionally as well, although of course they should be kept to one individual.

I would not request testing for myself, given the identical circumstances.
