Was your viral load done recently, I would think they would have found out your genotype at some point also. Where do you live? Is treatment available to you? Is there medical assistance available to people who can't afford it?

I am not sure what you tried, but the only way to have a chance eradicating hep c once your chronic is to use interferon and ribavirin, or or one of the new drugs in development that are only available in clinical trials currently. Do you know what your genotype is? have you had a biopsy or any diagnostic tests on your liver like . Were you infected four years ago, or were you just diagnosed 4 years ago?

Hi-
Do you know when you got hep c? Perhaps you are in the acute stage, this would mean you have had it less the 6 months this is a very good time to treat it? Your viral load is extremely low.
welcome

Yea, sure.  Telaprevir ( VX-950 ) and Boceprevir are two new Protease Inhibitor drugs.  These drugs are used in conjucture with Peginterferon & Ribavirin.  They've improved the success cure rate substantially.  Right now they only available via trial.  Once approved, hopefully by 2011, accoding to several reports I've read, they will be available for public use.  This article summarizes how a lot of people are waiting for newer and better treatments to become available.  According to this article telaprevir and boceprevir are likely to be approved next year as add-ons to the current treatment regimen.

You are young, female and have a low viral load-this is good news as far a treatment goes. Try to find out your genotype (strain) and discuss treatment options with your doctor.
In the mean time educate yourself, look after yourself well and think yourself fortunate for having discovered this early.

Good luck and welcome !

A lot of people don't even know they have it.  Once you get diagnosed you may completely blind sided for a while, but you'll start to get used to it.

You'll need to consult a Gastro or Hepa for further medical evaluations.  Get educated about it, and learn all you can.  You should start thinking about treatment, if you haven't already.  There are new treatments that may become available that increase your odds of being cured.  Talk to your Dr. and see if he's up to date with the current treatments.
