You will not feel the effects for several hours. It took 6 -8 hours for my first one) So it would be good to get out and get your running done, so your not sitting around thinking about it. My first shot was nothing that I expected it to be. It was much better than my expectations. You will be fine, I promise.. How old are you???? I believe that the younger you are,the better you will react..
I spent alot of time in my Bible reading healing scriptures to help with my anxiety. IT WORKS!!!!
Keep us posted on how you are doing!! Good Luck
Just being in Walmart, without the meds, makes me sick. I try to avoid the place
Peg takes awhile to kick in and you may not feel sick much at all. You could ask your nurse about whether you should rest right after the shot. Be strong and focus on getting healthy. Good luck
I didnt get sick. I had no sx whatsoever. Ive been doing acupunture every week for the last 3 months prior tx to improve my immune system. Tho it is the luck of the draw, but IMO being very healthy prior tx may give you an advantage. But who knows. I never ger sick after my shot, but I do feel the emotional ups and downs.
Best of luck to you and don't worry too much. I can't remember how I was after the 1st but I did have to drive home in rush hour traffic and made it...wishes on tx :) shelly
Oh and i didnt go to walmart lol didnt wanna take any chances of getting sick in there lol.
goldenrules i am 49.....just got home nurse made me do the shot lol, didnt hurt at all, its trying to remember how to do it again when shes not around that scares me lol, She talked for over an hour, its hard to take it all in. FIGuy haha know what ya mean about walmart lol.
Congratulations on taking the plunge. You can do it.
You did it!!! Good for you, i'm 49 too, and so far haven't experienced too many sides...fatigue, and insomnia are probably the worst i've had so far...i experienced a little anxiety the first 3 weeks, but i think that was because my blood cells were dropping...and the light headedness was freaky...but like Golden rule said...the Bible has been my saving grace....i just repeat...i can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me...poof...anxiety gone!!LOL...rest, and be good to yourself...we're here for you!
Blessings, J
how did it go the rest of the night? Tell All!
OMG my lower back and head are killing me, i been laying on the floor with chills lots of covers, now im burning up. I been praying alot, but god must be mad at me. : (
dear....take it right now. come on, do it....
It WILL get better but try and get some sleep with something strong through this right now.
Are you going to be okay if you can get something to knock you out with?
You should not notice anything difference from your first shot. But you will start filling different after you start taking the riba pills. That's what makes me fill lousy. Just tire and miserable. Good luck, if I can do it you can do it. I 59 yrs old and am on my last wk of the riba. I had my last shot last Sunday...Glory Hallelujah its over. I was undet at 12 wks and still undet. Good again...
Jody ---- those things will pass ---- some you'll get used to --- otherwise ---HYDRATE yourself.
You'll be fine --- keep electric blankets or lots of blankets on hand --- and tea.
You can take some pain meds to fight the headache --- but know which one your doc prescribes.
This stuff is NOT a walk in the park --- but you can stick it out.
Usually folks take a tylenol pm about a half hour before taking the shot each week.
Hang in there --- try to sleep --- it will feel like it's going to last forever --- but you can do it!
I know you can!
You're a strong woman.
You've been reading the threads -- -now go back and read people's remedies for their side effects...
Pay attention to them.
YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY TO SLAYING YOUR DRAGON!

Ok i fell asleep for a couple of hrs on the floor, my head still hurts but my back is much better. BayAreaWomen i just now before i came here to read took my first 3 riba pills, the nurse had told me the pills are not as bad as the shots, but how would she know....its not like she takes em. Thanks yall just reading this and knowing yall care enough to write back makes me feel much better. I WILL do this, im not a very strong person but when i come here and read about you guys it makes me feel stronger. Im gonna go lay down just a few mins, thanks again yall.
Come on woman-of course you can do it! You Have to have a positive mental attitude. The 1st shot is usually the worst,if you time it right (I used to do mine at 6pm and get to bed with hot water bottle for 10pm and sleep through the worst of it)and don't get anxious about it'll be no prob.As Bay Area Woman says, the ribavirin has more of a noticeable effect but it's tiny little steps down the hill, don't panic too much.
Good luck from us in UK
